The world has changed - but not because of September the 11th. It's changed because we can now SEE illegal logging in Borneo on Google Earth. We can SEE the destruction of Tasmania's forests. And then we realize that our Governments have KNOWN all along what we are just SEEING for the first time. And we wonder why the HELL they have done so little. This is democracy, they are supposed to look after us and our interests. Now that we can SEE the results of their failures, we are going to take matters into our own hands.John Howard is an unabashed, self-centred liar, with an ideology rooted in destruction, judgement, bigotry, supreme hypocrisy and short-sightedness. He can't see past the next opinion poll when it comes to his own future, but when it comes to looking after his mates, he can set them up for life. Cynical, manipulative, criminal. In the future, people will look back on what is happening now in the same way we look back on our forefathers, who logged Australia to oblivion, slaughtered the local inhabitants and destroyed most of the wildlife. Only this time it's worse - this is destruction on top of our forefathers' efforts - cumulative, exponential. I hope Labor wins the next election, but they really are not much better than the Libs. They haven't got the courage to revolt against the forces that are corrupting us and our world. Rampant consumerism - profit at all costs. Vested Interest.For a small fraction of the surplus, we could permanently stop old growth forest logging. We could solve the aboriginal crisis, we could become the world leader in energy, sustainability and peace. We have to change our priorities and our values if we are to have any hope of steering the world to a better future. Australia must do it. If we can't no-one will. Oh well, maybe Denmark.Why are cigarettes at the most prominent position at every single primary point of sale location in Australia? Service Stations, Newsagents, Supermarkets, Bottleshops, General Stores. Why won't the government legislate to put them under the counter away from children's eyes? because Labor and Liberal get donations from the tobacco companies. End of story....
