A starter lesson for this technique - hopefully some of this information is clearer to understand than in previous videos - this is should help you break down the basics of the this technique to begin incorporating it into your playing.I'm using my lovely Sei Bass Single Cut series one - more pics here:http://www.munkio.com/music/music_seibass.html

Oct 10, 2008 - Hey -- do you ever lose circulation in your right hand picking that way for extended periods?

ijazzmunki Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - no - never

Oct 10, 2008 - this technique is already opening doors... thanks to you for sharing this lesson -- I am already groovin' with triplets and 16th notes and everything feels right now. Thank you!

Oct 10, 2008 - Great video man, the first time I actually stopped paying attention to the lesson and just listened to the tone of your instrument. You get a beautiful sound out of that thing man! Awesome explanation too. Thanks for providing some demonstrations of exercises to go along with it. I think a lot of players find these different techniques cool but can get frustrated not knowing how to approach it and work out a solid practice routine that works for them. Anyway man, keep it up.

Oct 10, 2008 - Thx, very cool!! :-)all good!!what i've been trying to figure out. Is a right hand fingering on descending phrase with string crossing. If u see what i mean. Something efficient that works. And its hard... god damn...lolcheers

Oct 10, 2008 - I second this motion! I'm trying to figure out what to do with the left hand now that I can play so many more notes in so much less time.Great video Mike. Thank you.

Oct 10, 2008 - Annoys me the lack of views here... every bass player needs to see this as i doubt they will walk away thinking the same as they usually do.

hawkeye2145 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - i thought i'd benefit more from some guitar lessons rather than bass lessons (i alternate a lot), but this video has proven me wrong! i guess i should do both haha

smurfbabe718 Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Great playing, but this technique can be very tricky to get smoothly on most basses. If you notice this cat like mr garrison himself has placed a piece of wood between his picks up assuring smooth effortless transition. This cat is a monster of course so talent is first and foremost, but it does help.

Oct 10, 2008 - nice video man thx

KurtSandford Says:

Oct 10, 2008 - Yeah i know what you mean, this can't be done on just any bass
