Its the flag airline of El Salvador, comprised of a group of five combined Central American airlines. The company is owned by the Kriete family of San Salvador. Originally an acronym of Transportes Aéreos Centroamericanos (Central American Air Transport), it now stands for Transportes Aéreos del Continente Americano (Air Transport of the American Continent), reflecting its expansion to North, Central and South America. It flies to about 50 different countries.The 5 airlines are Aviateca (Guatemala) Lacsa (Costa Rica) NICA (Nicaragua) Taca (El Salvador) Taca de Honduras (Honduras) But in its history; besides making destinations to Canada, Mexico, The US, Belize, Costa Rica, The Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Cuba, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Argentina, Buenos Aires, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela it has had 2 accidents in its history. On May 24, 1988, TACA Airlines Flight 110 was approaching the New Orleans airport when it encountered heavy precipitation, including hail up to 1.25 inches (32 mm) in diameter. The aircraft experienced a dual engine flameout at about 16,200ft due to water ingestion, and the flight crew were able to establish emergency electrical power at about of 10,500ft. The crew was unsuccessful in their attempts to restart the engines, and had to execute an emergency landing on a grass strip on a levee on the Intercoastal Waterway (after initially planning to ditch the aircraft on the waterway). The flight crew successfully made an unpowered landing and none of the 45 occupants were injured. The aircraft was repaired and flown off the levee.The one featured occured on the evening of April 5, 1993 as a Boeing 767 of Flight 510 was coming in for landing at La Aurora International Airport in Guatemala City. By chance a Mexican passenger was filming this journey's end. What nobody knew was the airplane landed after a rain shower has just passed over the airport. Control towerpersonnel had advised the crew of slippery runway conditions.Touchdown occurred approximately 3,500 feet down the 9,200-footrunway at a speed of 153 knots. With 500 feet remaining, thecaptain determined that the airplane would not stop before the endof the runway. He intentionally steered the airplane to the left.The airplane exited the runway at a speed of 76 knots, went throughthe perimeter fence, traveled down a hill, and struck severalresidences before it came to rest 810 feet from where it had leftthe runway.All of the 224 occupants safely evacuated the airplane, andonly minor injuries were reported. No one on the ground was wasinjured, and there was no postimpact fire.

Entonces quedaron asientos vacios en 1a clase, y por logica iban a pasar a un pax. con boleto pagado de clase turista a 1a, para darme el asiento de turista a mi, y le dice la supervisora al agente: hacemele el upgrade a un pasajero por favor, pero a un "americano"! Ni entre nosotros mismos nos queremos!
