This is the alleged BOSS ds-1 clone, this comes in another brand such as GTX. This pedal is nice since it has a wide drive spectrum range, from hard overdrive(gain 9o'clock) to harsh mean almost metal like distortion at full throttle. I set the tone eq. low(2o'clock) , and high(10'oclock) for that hardrock mid boost blend. Setting it way up will give you a chug-chug metal blend.
