Jul 26, 2008 - Since the passing of Carl Sagan, the world of science has been sorely lacking an effective ambassador. It appeared for a while that Hawking might take up the mantle, and for a while he did, but hampered as he was by his affliction he could not endure and truly capture the collective imagination. Now, we have Michio Kaku and deGrasse Tyson. Here's looking forward to the day when once again, scientists can be rock stars. It's needed now more than ever under this culture that celebrates ignorance.

Jul 26, 2008 - Im in awe of your grasp of big bang theory, you're asking really hard hitting scientific questions.

krang66 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - This is beautiful. Thank You, with more people that think this way the more our chances of survival increase. And for all people who don't understand this, it only means that they have lived their lives with a wish not to know. Try harder, learn more cause the truth is only one.

perfectshot35 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Also, who or what created the vacuum that it started as?

icequeenmom Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I can see the headlines now."Needing to rethink everything we know about the universe, Scientific community turned upside down and top thinkers embarrassed by youtube commenter perfectshot35"

Jul 26, 2008 - lmao I love it. Holy shit we don't know everything! Well there must be a god!

Kahalasama Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - He is such a vibrant and articulated genius. Our lives are enriched for having him present science to us in such a spiritual way.

sciencedoggy Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Why don't you try to find out? Do the work, instead of just saying "Godidit" as an answer. "Godidit" doesn't anwer anything about HOW and WHY. It's a copout answer for people who are afraid of the truth.

cbdoobie Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Some immature asshole keeps falsely flagging comments as spam.

cbdoobie Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Wrong questions man. You need to get a grip on science before you ask scientific questions. There is a ton of stuff on the internet, even YOUTUBE! Don't take what you say off people from a thread, go do some research, ask EXPERTS!

kaysandesses Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Watch to see what I do when the immature assholes falsely flag good comments as spam.

kaysandesses Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - "He is such a vibrant and articulated genius. Our lives are enriched for having him present science to us in such a spiritual way. "Great post!

keruzate Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - "The Best Sermon Forever," aka, "How to waste your life."

TurpisHaereticum Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - If promoting science and knowledge is a "waste" to you, I suggest you throw away your computer and everything else to do with technology. At least then we won't have to listen to your whiny, condescending ass, criticizing great thinkers like Tyson.

meandyourmom96 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - your an idiot

meandyourmom96 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - we need science as well as religion in order to understand the mysteries of the universe

longof99 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Never said he was like Hitler. Look at the post in context. 2nd, substance can be either good or bad. I didn't opine specifically on his. Again, out of context. Who's manipulating? What is this inspiration you talk of? I don't see it. Please help me understand.

longof99 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Never said we didn't. But if you try to demonize one w/out the other (regardless of what side your on) then you lose.

NoWorries88 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Tyson's "science" is the used chewing gum that gets stuck to the bottom of real science's shoe.

TurpisHaereticum Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - @NoWorries"Science is open to criticism, which is the opposite of religion. Science begs you to prove it wrong - that's the whole concept - whereas religion condemns you if you try to prove it wrong. It tells you to accept it on faith and shut the hell up."~ Jason StockNoWorries, I'm sure if you happened to live in the 1600's, you would be speaking against and persecuting Galileo, just like the racist Martin Luther, John Calvin, and the Catholic Church.Religion has always opposed science.

hammerofharpel Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Neil has become the Stan Lee of science. He knows how to sell science to the public and we need him.

PISTOLcm Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Says the guy with the name "MeAndYourMom96"You must be a real mature, smart guy. Ha ha.

roberto8ag Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Agree. "Religion without science is blind. Science without religion is lame. " - EinsteinAccording to Tolstoy, science is an investigation and study of those things put forward by religion (the relationship between a rational being and the universe).

Athaeus Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - It really is incredible to listen to Tysons speeches. And why on earth has this only got 3 stars!? It's incredible and mind-boggling!
