bapyou Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - Hey Classic: YOU shut up and enjoy the music.

fakeonme Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - Why does this version sound so different from the cut on the soundtrack to this movie?

rocket2mybrain Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - Because the sound track I believe was remixed and heavly edited before it was released.

saraahtje12 Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - Which concert is this?Awesome song!:)

beefmageditor Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - It's from the movie "Stop Making Sense" directed by Jonathan Demme. It's basically the best concert film ever made.

MooWorldOrder Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - The beat does start to drag at 1:25. Never caught that before. Yet, I don't think being white has anything to do with keeping rhythm. I don't think I'd find that in a definition of meter.

revPujo Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - the drag might also have something to do with the way the audio is cut. demme's blending different camera angles from separate nights into one performance. can't imagine two nights of audio will fit perfectly.frantz dont seem to have a problem keeping up in the "remain in light" tour footage from rome. adrian belew says the band liked to get wired with the yayo before going on stage. coked out white folk dont drop the meter.

beefmageditor Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - Amen

dilaudid Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - "this is what happens when white people play funk" -- thanks "bapyou".

bapyou Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - Yeah, you're right, Moo. Meter and race have nothing to do with each other. It just seems that, when white people play funk, it's always HALF-funk, and not really funky at all. Although, this is not true 100% of the time. Average White Band? Incredibly funky. It's not a 100% rule. But it is a general rule that seems to hold true. Although, on occasion, I've heard some black players that plod when playing funk. Some of George Clinton's tracks drag too.

bapyou Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - dilaudid:"this is what happens when white people play funk" ...Yes, I made that comment a long time ago, but I don't think that it's 100% true. Tina Weymouth and Chriz Franz from the THs had a hit as the Tom Tom Club doing 'Genius of Love'. That doesn't drag. Anyway... I'll take live musicians over a perfect beat machine any day of the week. Cheers.

trollfinger Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - Heavily edited. But then again, most live albums get patched over in the studio. Look in any live cd or lp you have and you'll see the"studio work" section in the credits. Or it will state that everything was left in.

astambo1 Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - I don't know what's wrong with some white funksters. And they're not even technically funk. They are the pioneers of new wave. Quit hating.

BrodyxBrown Says:

christiemarie27 Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - I love the part where David Byrne scats through the song during the instrumental interlude. I also love the Album Version of Slippery People where you can hear the clicking in the background music, like the turning of the dial.
