Aug 20, 2008 - how did apple steal anything? people seem to miss the fact that apple and microsoft were working together for a long time on a workable gui interface for micro-computers. neither came up with the idea, but like many things, the innovation comes from refinement, not the invention.MS lost their way when Ballmer was made the boss. Apple survived because Gates has no problem throwing money at good ideas. the mac v pc garbage makes for great bar arguments, but in the real world, it doesnt matter.

A few of the same basic GUI paradigms used in the first Macs are still present in OS X today. 3) IMPORTANT: Xerox was never interested in bringing their GUI to market. It only existed in a research lab. Xerox didn't have the foresight to actually put that idea into a mass market device.

Aug 20, 2008 - The reason people chose microsoft is because they could not choose apple since apple would not release their OS to other hardware companies had they had the choice who knows. And microsoft is digging their own grave with vista which until windows 7 comes out apple has the chance to make up for lost time and enter further into the enterprise market. and no apple may not better than M$ but i personally think that apple tends to spend more time debugging and fixing their OS than M$.
