Aug 20, 2008 - we are the goverment in theory and theory only. at least recently that is. corporation is creating goverment thru lobbyist...
nicolatwo Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Correct. We can only vote for the right candidate. Even if the candidates who are capable of winning are sometimes compromised. But that's because they have no choice other than compromise something for something more gravely important. Hillary Clinton has to be diplomatic. She is not even compromising. She has to speak more conservatively. That's all. If she did not do that she would be cast out before the competition even started.

Aug 20, 2008 - "there is nothing more evil than the people in a corrupt gov't"THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is all-capital letters personhood...a corporation.
neothomist1275 Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Corporations, like Frankenstein, the Tin Man and robots, are based on the GOLEM of the kabbalah: a body without a soul.
prayfertrey Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Wow. If you're brave, go into a ghetto with a sign complaining about the murderers. Try to have a dialog with them. See if they offer you tea.
TheGiantRobot Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Why do you keep saying this? You think evil people gravitate towards ghettos? Do you not recognize that creating ghettos and creating unchecked power has the same effect on people - disregard for their fellow man?
prayfertrey Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Do you not hear yourself saying a person can have an excuse for hurting other people? I grew up poor and never used it as an excuse to hurt other people. What of all the poor ppl who don't make excuses for hurting other ppl? What is more insane that saying anyone can have an excuse to hurt other ppl? Where are you getting your notions; just off the top of your head? I'm freaking out, here.
TheGiantRobot Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - No, I don't hear myself saying that. I hear myself saying that there's evil everywhere, and making people unreasonably poor and rich brings out the worst in them. If you are upset about how people in poor neighborhoods behave, think about the rich people who engineered that situation. They are the ones with the greatest power over what's happening.
prayfertrey Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - No one is making anyone behave badly. There's no excuse for hurting other people. There is never an excuse for hurting other people. Only a sociopath or the shallowest chump would keep insisting they can have an excuse for hurting other people.
TheGiantRobot Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Are you so fixed in judgement that you can't recognize influences? "Excuses" and "making" is not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the real world, where we are influenced by our environments. Are you so pure that nothing could corrupt you, not even when you were a child? Hell no, you aren't. People develop, learn. Judging them doesn't help you understand why, it's just a cheap dodge of your responsibility.
prayfertrey Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - I grew up poor and in a house with abusive parents. So did a lot of other people. They aren't jerks or sociopaths. Could you at least try to construct more coherent sentences? After all, I am giving you the time of day, here. That wouldn't happen in RL.
TheGiantRobot Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Prayfertrey, go back to RL then. Don't pretend you are doing me a favor by posting replies that dodge or restate my questions.
prayfertrey Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - What could have had more influence on you than what you spent your entire childhood doing, from age 5 to 18 and perhaps beyond, being told what to think and when to think it? How could you have more influence on an organism!? But it's all you've known, so you don't know the difference, so you don't suspect there are deep, machined grooves and stamps in your tissues... The changes called for in this doc. don't usher in the future; unschooling parents do.
prayfertrey Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Hey, was that Milton Friedman!? I guess he never heard of Stanley Milgram. Or lived on this planet. Weird. Why is he thought to be so smart, again?
Axe2Dome Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - And corporations are laughing in your face and saying, wtf do you plan to do about it? NOTHING. That's right, there's nothing you CAN do about it. They own f*cking everything.
travel2mark Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - damn you mark achbar! Share ware my ass! great film, hate the corporate/llc structure of the makers! Shame, shame, shame...you made it with the intent on sharing it...so share it!
machbar Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Shareware, not freeware. There's a difference. The corporate structure was imposed by Canadian funding agencies. You can't qualify for funds unless you're incorporated. The company is private, not publicly traded. If you support the film, support the filmmakers and other crew who share revenues. We all have bills to pay and want to keep making films. Where's the shame in that? Thanks for the support.

Aug 20, 2008 - In your scenario, where is the responsibility of the corporation to maintain self-control? Just because something is legal does not mean its the best thing to do in a given situation. Corporations provide great services but when a child grows more powerful than its parent (gov) it needs to mature and GROW UP!
