Sep 7, 2008 - I don't know what the connection is to Lou Dobbs, but it does travel through what is one of the busiest corridors in Canada. It's known as Highway 407 or (ETR) in southern Ontario, and is probably one the most expensive toll roads anywhere.

Sep 7, 2008 - Not quite. Highway 407 is not used for most shipping because the toll rates are too high, even with commercial discounts. It's simply a major highway for use only by those who can afford it. The rates can easily reach hundreds of dollars per month. I used to use it until the rates became ridiculous a few years ago.

Sep 7, 2008 - The original intent of 407 was to take some of the traffic load off of Highway 401 - which is a commercial route through southern Ontario and according to wikipedia, one of the widest and busiest highways in the world. It ends at the Detroit border, as do Interstates 75 and 94. I agree with your sovereignty comment and Dobbs does tend to exaggerate, but there should be no need for any government to keep discussions about such things behind closed doors, so he is correct to raise the issue.
