This is a video of one of my personal favorites by Led Zeppelin, "When the Levee Breaks". The song was released in 1971 on the untitled album, otherwise known as Led Zeppelin IV or the Four Symbols Album. The song was improvised from a version done in the 30s by Memphis Minnie.

Aug 20, 2008 - Yeah well the fact that piss daddy did that shit was because jimmy was a big enough sell-out to let him. Shouldn't have been done but all in all its all jimmys fault.

Aug 20, 2008 - john bottoms was definitive with syncopated overlapping measures .... a timeless percussionist

SqueezeMyLemonBabe Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - John Bottoms must be the drummer for some random english band or something.

Chiodoskid Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - not that i dont like led zep(they are my favorite band) but i think jim morrisons voice would sound fuckin ba-dass on this song.

YogiSizzle Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Last time I checked It was. The roots are rap. They use guitars, drums, a keyboard, a bass player, and even a tuba player now. How is that not music? Quit listening to the few shitty examples they play on the radio. Expand your horizons.

cuthbertallbad Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - The beastie boys song was actually "Rhymin and Stealin". You could say they "stole" Bonzo's beat.

cuthbertallbad Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - ahahahahha John Bottoms..........

Aug 20, 2008 - Just tryin' to make a point to some shithead that Led Zeppelin is far superior to tupac. Hoping said shithead would just go away. It's too bad JP needed to sell to poof dinghy. Can't fault him if he needed the cash... Same w/the Cadillac thing...

seanchristian1971 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - How old are you?

byronicusmagnus Says:

byronicusmagnus Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - this song kicks so much ass that it fills me with the urge to go out and kick someone in the ass in the name of "when the levee breaks", and they would thank me for it.

coffinshaker Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Dude, Zepplin totally ripped this tune off from Stillwater's Fever Dog!

physicalgrafiti12345 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I hope that is a joke because 1. The only similarity between the two is the drums and 2. Almost Famous was made in 2000 this was made in 1971 if anything it's only a tribute to Led Zeppelin as they were a big part of the movie.

coffinshaker Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - It was a total joke. Nancy Wilson who's a huge Zepplin freak wrote Fever Dog for the movie and used When The Levee Breaks as the basis for it. But though it's a blatant rip off of Zepplin it's actually a great song on it's own.

Aug 20, 2008 - You should check out Heart's covers of many Led Zep songs. They are for the most part pretty good. Zep was big into Fantasy, and one of their favorites was "The Hobbit", and "The Lord Of The Rings",By J.R.R. Tolkien. I love LZ and TLOTR. Rock ON! Check out their Fantasy segment on "The Song Remains The Same" video. It is pretty cool. Rock Stars Rule!

weareonesf14 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - The band Switchfoot uses the intro to this song as the intro to their concerts when they walk on stage.

SqueezeMyLemonBabe Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Wow thats lame.

rockgods09 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - This song is awesome, more people need to hear it. Just shows another side of Zeppelin. Genious!

physicalgrafiti12345 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Yeah it is good.

jackh4eva Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Yeah, but this is a rip off of a 1920s blues song anyway.

2itp1its Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - its not a rip dewd.. its a cover/tribute and if im not wrong more bands than led zep did it.
