Aug 20, 2008 - I'm not here to ridicule but wasn't too much water being wasted? Is wudu not best done being as economical as possible with water.

Aug 20, 2008 - Asulam Lakum brother thanks so much for posting. I am woman who converted to Islam. The only question I had was about wadu on the feet, since I don't own leather socks I perform wadu on everything including my feet the rest of the prayers. Is there any scholar who could answer this? I heard if after performing wadu for the Fajr prayer you put on clean socks then during the rest of the day you only had to run clean water over the top and bottom of the socks three times.

Aug 20, 2008 - Assalam alakaum, inshallah your in great health sister, and for your questions inshallah i can answer it. From what ive heard, i heard its permisable to make wadu with socks only if u have not used the restroom. Therefore you would first begin with ur right foot( say the Shada) and wipe it with water, and the same to the left. Allah and his messengers know best. INshallah that helps, assalam alakaum

tauheedul Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - walaykumusalam, there is no requirement to put on leather socks and do masah over them. You should wash the left foot up to the ankles and also the right foot three times making sure no part is left dry. Hope that helps.

tauheedul Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - That is true, but the proper way of performing wudhu is to wash your feet. Doing masah over the leather socks is permissible, but not a requirement for wudhu.

tauheedul Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - In the video they have had to show each step slowly, therfore more water is used. But under normal circumstances, it would be done much quicker.

mmrlucky Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Yea you're right, and Tauheedul explained why on the bottom = )

mmrlucky Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Yup true inshallah, and allah knows best

mmrlucky Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Indeed, and inshallah wash your right foot first than left foot, and allah knows best

Aug 20, 2008 - Did not he miss the side parts of his head when he did masah? BTW I am not muslim

tauheedul Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - The minimum requirement for the head is to do masah on the top, the sides can be done when bringing forward your hands after doing the back of your head using the side of your hands. Refer to a Taleemul Haq for images.

tauheedul Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Sorry, i meant right foot then left. Jazakallah for that correction.

JanMuzelman Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - 1/3 of the head.

tauheedul Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - thats right, 1/3 minimum

Aug 20, 2008 - The verse in Quran concerning ablution says: ""O you who believe! when you rise up to prayer, WASH your faces and your hands as far as the elbows, and WIPE your heads and your feet to the ankles; and if you are under an obligation to perform a total ablution, then wash (yourselves) and if you are sick or on a journey, or one of you come from the privy, or you have touched the women, and you cannot find water....He did not wash his ankles
