One of the most amazing guitar solos. He performs this one different every time, but this one is a favorite of many of his fans. If you like it, then go to johnbutlertrio.com and check out his albums. Enjoy!(This video WAS previously submitted to YouTube, but the submitter had trouble with getting the audio and video to sync up correctly. I didn't have this problem, so I figured I'd submit it myself.)For those wanting to own this video, go to http://www.awarestore.com/index.php?op=view_item&item_id=14360 and buy it. It comes with John Butler's best live recording and the DVD containing this video along with a few others, and it's only $15. I will no longer be giving this video out to people who ask for it, so please buy the CD instead. Thanks.

May 14, 2008 - what the fuck is wrong with you? seriously. is there any justification for that statment, or do you just like to rip on naturally talented musicians who actually have a soul
gibsonsgs Says:
May 14, 2008 - thats crazy awesome nice
IllmaticFunkMachine Says:
May 14, 2008 - ahaha. that's so true. my have been grown out for about a year now and it does effect the sound a ton. i mostly fingerpick, so its dedication to grow them. people who only fingerpick sometime tend to just play with their fingers (w.o nails) and its perfectly fine, but the sound is different and it can be more complicated. its all personal preference..but the comments that some ppl are leaving are just not worth it.

May 14, 2008 - i listened to this in sync version of it, and couldn't help but notice that i can't hear the foot tapping in this one. I actually thought that the foot tapping added quite a bit to the feel of the song, it just feels like somethings missing from this version. I don't know, it just feels weird listening to this version. I especially like how in the not in sync version how when he plays the same fast line twice, he changes from tapping every eight beats to tapping every beat.
guitardood808 Says:
May 14, 2008 - correction, i do hear the tapping, but its very very faint

May 14, 2008 - Hmmm... this video seems like it's lacking something. I just don't get the same feeling as the out-of-sync one. I dunno, hah.

May 14, 2008 - ThomasEatsPomus I feel the same way for some reason the out of sync one feels like it has more ballsI dunno either

May 14, 2008 - It's truly an amazing masterpiece. It really moved me.
lordlemmingman Says:
May 14, 2008 - To think he wrote that and preformed it on a street corner...That is just amazing.
airsoftsilent Says:
May 14, 2008 - What tuning is he in? It appears that hes playing a major chord from just barring a fret, that's BS.Also, he breaks timing too much, I found it annoying. The melodies, however, were pretty nice, I'll give him that.
amferraro Says:
May 14, 2008 - airsoft:You have obviously never touched a guitar, in fact I'd wager that you don't even play an instrument. What this man does is amazing. Ask any professional guitarist this, and the answer will be "yes." Please don't go around ignorantly bashing genius musicians.Go try to play this, come back, and then we'll see what you have to say. Meanwhile, I'll watch this video again and marvel over how truly fascinating it is.
airsoftsilent Says:
May 14, 2008 - Whatever you say. You'd lose that wager.I play the cello, guitar, and piano. Don't tell me about music, I know what I'm talking about.
freedbyblood Says:
May 14, 2008 - airsoftsilent:get off the website. just do it. ur a homo, how can critize JB? by the way, only fags play the cello and piano
neochocobo Says:
May 14, 2008 - airsoft, it's in Open C, capo 4th fret. It is mostly major chords, but he's improvising, too! He only bars twice through the whole song, and that's at 1:50 and 2:07, when he's doing the pull-offs. And the only time he broke timing was during the transitions. Maybe you should listen and count a few more times, because he kept it 4/4 the whole song.If we gave you a guitar, and told you to play a song, could you do something of JB's caliber??
amferraro Says:
May 14, 2008 - Cello, guitar, and piano, eh?Very interesting. I'm quite proficient at the piano and guitar as well, and I find this work to be amazing. Would you mind recording something and putting it up here as a response to this video? I really subscribe to the philosophy that you shouldn't ardently criticize someone as you have unless you're equal to them in skill (and actually know what you're talking about, which you don't).
airsoftsilent Says:
May 14, 2008 - I'm sorry you're butthurt about me criticizing your lover. The cello and piano take much more skill to play properly than the guitar, sir. Watch what you say.
airsoftsilent Says:
May 14, 2008 - No, I cannot match his quality. I have only been playing for a year or so.I never said it was BAD, I just said that he broke timing a few times and that he's playing in a weird tuning
amferraro Says:
May 14, 2008 - Do you realize how ignorant you sound when you say that the cello and piano take more skill? That is completely untrue. All instruments are unique; you can't pretend to compare them. You're probably just under that impression because you just started the guitar, and think you've got it down. If you ever get some sense knocked into you, you'll realize that the guitar holds just as much depth as any other instrument.
amferraro Says:
May 14, 2008 - One more thing:The "breaks in timing" are known as "rubato," a term which you should be familiar with if you have any true experience in cello and piano (which is what you claim). Rubato is done to add to the musical element of the piece -- something which you seem to have missed altogether. The "weird tuning" is something that he does so that he can play this particular song. It's not cheating, nor is it juvenile; it's simply a necessity for this piece.
airsoftsilent Says:
May 14, 2008 - To say that I cannot criticize him because I do not meet his level of experience is to say that you cannot criticize Sigmund Freud because you do not have a degree in Psychology, or that you cannot criticize a politician because you don't have a law degree or an MBA.
amferraro Says:
May 14, 2008 - All right. Thanks for the completely irrelevant analogy. What I said pertained to the arts only.
moyga Says:
May 14, 2008 - jellybean6969 i hope you dies in a car crash tommorow because your a fag. to do some finger picking on guitar you have to have long nails, not only because it makes it easier but it can also effect the sound due to the texture and density of your nails fucktard. he has more balls then you, he has 2.
