Jul 26, 2008 - aye could be good though, however, having now heard it on systems such as the iration i realise that there are soundsystems that surpass it massively

Jul 26, 2008 - Drum and bass today souless? You have got to be joking. dnb today is way more technical and enjoyable to listen to than the "oldschool" shit. Don't get me wrong I don't mind some older beats but they are just so primitive compared to todays music.

Jul 26, 2008 - I'm not gonna argue music with a 23yr old, whom i suspect has a very limited and narrow appreciation of music. The technical aspect of how music is composed doesn't make it sound better. All i know is that the DNB i like to listen to was more in keeping with my musical influences. You probably grew up(formative years) listening to *rock music or commercial Hiphop, commercial music in general, hence your preference for todays noisy DNB.*not really Bass driven

Jul 26, 2008 - The dnb I listen to is mostly noisia, spor, evol intent etc. The dark dirty sounds being my favourite, funnily enough they are mostly bass driven. You say I have a narrow and limited appreciation of music for a 23 yr old, I ask what you base this on? All that says to me is you are the narrow minded person yourself who forms their opinions on stereotypes. As for the techy side of the tunes, that is completely subjective, so you have no real argument there, haha neither do I, also I'm 18.

Jul 26, 2008 - The crowd just arent as soulful or as educated as they once were. I'm even going back to Warehouse Raves here. Although the technical stuff today all sounds amazing now and everything is technically superior. The Roughness and Gritty funk quality came from the crowd as much as it did the sound system. This seems to have been forgotten. If it gets you on your feet then its done its job NEW or OLD, but the energy of the old school and the connection of the DJ with the crowd isnt what it was.

Jul 26, 2008 - I love both old and new. The oldskool stuff, in my opinion, generally had more interesting breaks, however the new stuff is still as original as the old, just more refined and, to a certain extent, individual; back in the day, jungle was borrowing from oldskool hardcore, hip-hop and reggae, whereas now it's a lot more varied.
thejordan01 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - I never said DnB today is better due to it being more technical. It really is hard to make a sweeping generalization that crowds today are less soulful because no one can really know that. I've been to plenty of gigs where the crowds energy is simply electric, in all seriousness some of the best nights of my life.

Jul 26, 2008 - great sign of a good system.the ideal system should be clear and not leave your ears ringing. distortion is what makes your ears ring and distortion is is what makes your ears ring, damages them, permanent damag that will never be fixed. :)
