Jul 26, 2008 - the boats sometimes get smashed by the close-out right that breaks on the other side of the reef, when a huge set comes all the boats go forwards. in the dvd blackwater u see a boat go over the falls on a huge day

Jul 26, 2008 - a normal wave breaks at 2/3rd's of its hight in depth of water a 30 foot wave normaly breaks in about 20 feet of water but teahupoo is an exception and it breaks on about a 8-10ft deep reef. with the water being sucked up it probably goes down to about 6 feet at worst.. this is still very shallow for the tons of water that fall on u at wipe out. teahupoo has already taken a life.
