Back in 1992, Boz toured with Donald Fagen's New York Rock & Soul Revue. Here he covers a soulful old tune written by Gamble and Huff and recorded by Joe Simon. Video quality is not too good but a great song and performance.

2old2Rock Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - You're right. This was from the Philly show. I saw them at Jones Beach and Becker was with them at that show as well.

NTA9 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I'm pretty sure it's a Gibson L5S. Quite short lived solid version of the incomparable L5 jazz model. Could be wrong, though.

thooper Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Drew Zingg is the king on guitar.

NewCokeZero Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Ringo Starr also recorded this on his hit album "Ringo the 4th" in the late '70s.

Jul 26, 2008 - Hey guys FYI- its a Gamble & Huff Song, they weren't there. I saw the NYR&SR in philly in 92 or 93, the only time I know of that they toured... Scaggs, Becker, Fagen, Phoebe Snow, Michael McDonald, Tiran Porter (Doobie Bros.) cant remember who else. Think they also put out a live CD of the tour. Im sure its out of print but if anyone has it id love to hear it!!!

WarlordFeyd Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - The Boz and Steely Dan were just 2 of the artists that gave me a deeper appreciation of how good some soulful 70s music became a part of my life...Since then, we haven't really seen some decent blues/soul music come around-oh well...

Nacho66 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I saw this show! How cool is that?Wow.I actually remember this.

Nacho66 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - The version of, 'Lonely Teardrops' from the 'Leaving Las Vegas' movie is the cut from the NYR&SR album.

funnymanpc10 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - No. Its a Gibson L5-S (solid body version of the archtop Gibson L-5) because it has the long tailpiece and has a sunburst finish, its probably the 1974-1975 variety and maybe even early 1976 right before Gibson switched over to the TP-6 Fine tuning bridge.

Emeraldjazzlady Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Kirk Whalum, the great jazz sax player put this tune on his "IN THIS LIFE" CD. The lady who sang it was Theresa James. She has that deep, raspy sexy voice that was perfect for the song.

habyss Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - This is the only song I really cared for on the NYS&R CD.

Jul 26, 2008 - Saw this band that summer tour in Mansfield,MA.Maybe the coolest concert of all time.Mushrooms. When Pheobe Snow sang "Poetry Man" I near floated into the purple air. They did a few encores, I remember they did the Beach Boys "Don't Worry Baby" at the end. Awesome night.

Jul 26, 2008 - Just saw Boz last night at Casino Rama (north of Toronto) he is still the coolest, opened with couple of hits, smoothly went from one to another without trying to get the normally conservative Canadian (casino) crowd going. The crowd's enjoyment and intensity built till he got two encores and would have got another as there were still sooo many more songs he could have done, if they did not turn on the lights..his voice was fantastic even richer I think..was so good.
