Nov 18, 2008 - success has very little to do with vocal skills or musical skills in general.most probably jon is the lead singer because richie actually JOINED the band AFTER jon FOUNDED it already being the lead singer. furthermore they started out as a hairband, and jon's voice just fits this genre better.
