Chris Hedges's new book examines how Christian dominionists are seeking absolute power and a Christian state. According to Hedges, the movement bears a strong resemblance to the young fascist movements in Italy and Germany in the 1920s and '30s. Hedges is the former New York Times Middle East bureau chief and author of "War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning."

Nov 18, 2008 - thanks for the upload :)

Nov 18, 2008 - Two words - prove it. You guys are extremely scrupulous when it comes to proof of a Creator, but any evolutionary theory that comes down the pike you welcome with open arms. Know thyself.
ndjarnag Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - again, genetics is cool stuff. you ought to check out the reserach of craig venter and francis collins(a christian by the way)
bammbamm12 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yes it is very cool stuff - praise the Almighty!
jbryant13 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I agree Robertson is a nutjob - but the left is wrong in their "science only" approach rooted in Darwinism. The argument they put for is that it's "either / or" faith or reason. A RATIONAL person has BOTH. Catholicism does not argue against science - in fact it embraces it, and has been involved in many scientific breakthroughs, not the least of which is documented successes in ADULT stem cell research, not to mention Mendel's contribution to genetics.
grafactor Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Then why Catholics preach that using condoms is wrong? How many people has that policy killed?
jbryant13 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - You are basically using the "end justifies the means" philosophy which misdirects the personal responsibility. If someone playing Russian Roulette puts a gun to their head and kills themself - is it the Vatican's fault because they support gun owners rights (hypothetically) or the person playing the game ? THINK it through
ImTheGrey Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - No, the argument is science only in public schools. Teach religeon in churches where it belongs. And creationism deals with the origin of liferight? If this is the case then none of your beef is with Darmin, he was a biologist. Your honest competition if you want to think criticly, is Edwin Hubble, Albert Einstein and Georgr Gamow, all physicists and the men who explained this theory with mathamatics proving the ongoing expansion of the universe. These men are the "origin" argument, not darwin.
ImTheGrey Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Humans, all humans, in eutro have a tail until the sex is determined by the chromosomes. Look at human beings today as compared to even 1000 yrs ago. We are on avg a foot taller and our comprehension skills had improved by 2000%. And the plants chain of evolution is rock solid. Going back hundreds of thousands of generations of plants we can see that the first flowering plants looked nothing like those we have today because they evolved to fit the envirnment fo their survival.
ImTheGrey Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Why would an intelligent designer build in age if the aim of his creation was to have everyone believe? Why give us fossils that can be scientificly proven old just to trick us into doubting him/her/it? Why give us stories of floods that wiped out humanity and then have a chineese civilization around with writing and an acurate calander that for the thousand years around this supposed world wide flood never stop wring and never mention it? None of this points to intelligence or reson.
jbryant13 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Creationism not only deals with the "origin" of life - but also it's end A scientific approach that believes itself capable of managing without an ethos misunderstands the reality of man. Therefore it is not scientific. Today we need a maximum of specialized (scientific) understanding, but also a maximum of ethos so that specialized understanding may enter the service of the right goals. Only in this way will its knowledge be both politically practicable and socially tolerable. (Pope Benedict)
ImTheGrey Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The meaning and end of life as well as it mysteries are for PHILOSIPHY CLASS NOT A SCIENCE LAB!!!!! There is no other industrialized country in the world that is having this debate. They have recognized that religeon and its teaching belong in ethics courses, philosophy classes, and in churches not in science classes or chemistry labs. We need to move into the twenty first century befor we are permanently left behind.
jbryant13 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - To hell with the rest of the world. As Ronald Reagan so eloquently said "America is a shining city on a hill" and that includes moral and ethical leadership ! It was Darwinism that allowed Hitler to view the Jews as he did. Google " From Darwin to Hitler " A "secular scientist" looks at a fetus and sees a "blob of cells" - a moral person looks at it and sees a PERSON with a SOUL destined to spend eternity with God. One can only see the person through the lens of ethics and morals.
ImTheGrey Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - And it was christaimity that wiped out millions of muslims. It was the church that carried out the inquisition. It was puritans who killed innocent women at the Salem witch trials. It is the catholic church who has sealed the agoonizing fate of millions of africans whom they told condoms were against the will of god. And for the recrd after birth we are in essence blobs of cells. A creationist looks at a fossil and sees the handywork of the devil while a scientist looks and sees a history.
ImTheGrey Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The pope actively protected child molesters, first by allowing them to be moved around to avoid detection, and then by stonewalling investigations into their activities. This is not what I would consider the "moral compass" amyone would want pointing the way. Condoms bad boy fucking........well that I can look the other way for. Diplorable.
bammbamm12 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - "Humans, all humans, in eutro have a tail until the sex is determined by the chromosomes."Next?
grafactor Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - You analogy doesn't work because of the degrees of separation between the Vatican>gun rights>the person who shoots himself. If I had a friend that was suicidal I would certainly bear much responsibility if I left a gun lying within reach and he used it on himself. The relationship between the two actions is more direct. Death and suffering from AIDS, overpopulation etc is a direct consequence of people not using birth control. Many don't use it because the Church tells them not to.
sweetpotos Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Uh, what??? What in the hell does TROTSKY and his theory of Permanent Revolution have to do with the fucking Bush doctrine?
Webins Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Good to see all the Islamophobic morons coming out from under the toilet sink to make hateful comments on this video.
blacknosugarnocream Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - A Republic is a form of democracy. There is direct democracy and representative democracy (which is what the US has in its DEMOCRATIC republic.)It is unfortunate that you do not know that the US is a democracy. However, it is not surprising considering the other false assertions you have made.
PeaceofChaos361 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - There is no arguement that can prove Creationalism, only arguements that show the faults of evolution. Creationalism has no actual scientific data to back it up. It specifically states that life was formed by an "intellegent being".That isnt science, that is religion; religion is faith, faith is guessing, and guessing isnt truth.Creationalism is to actual science as Alchemy is to chemistry;magic and sorcery
klasomentas Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Notice how from the ending of the word alchemy begins the word chemistry.I don't disagree that faith and science are different things, however there was a greek scientist called Pavlos (Paul) Kondilis who tried to depict that every aspect of human spirit activity(philosophy, religion, art and science) had a common start, that there subjectivity exists in science as well.Don't forget that everything is relative (relativity theory).
Darusdei Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - you look a fetus and you dont even know what your're looking...Hitler was Catholic...When facism comes to America it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying a cross.I always distrust people who know so much about what God wants them to do to their fellows....
bammbamm12 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Words. Where's your missing link? What happened to all the vestigial organs? Wasn't the human foetus supposed to have passed through all the evolutionary stages? You're a bunch of cartoon phonies. Go back to the Carnivals with your squirt guns.
