Nov 18, 2008 - the way it looks to me in the end, looks like people could just laugh and clap in amazement of what this man could do.

volodya2 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - nobody can do this

TsuQ Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - more than a little sloppy. but what the heck, he's Horowitz

Yotta1983 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - For those of you who do not know this piece, He skipped a whole middle section (which is all repeats anyway) - but also added a little fourish at the very end which is he very own improvisation.

Edmundsirdi Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - nobody in this days can do such things now

jpedrocp Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - UAU!!!!!!

revolutionbookie93 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - yeah i was looking @ my score during this and im like "wait where'd the rest of the piece go?" but whatever this was amazing

Piastol64 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - He was old, and even if some parts of pieces like this one or Valse-Caprice (Liszt-Schubert) have been forgotten or modified, they are incredible interpretations. What an incredible genius, and what a funny man :P

Samauggie1 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - The Horowitz transcription is different to the original.

cattleman6420012000 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - During his best playing years he was so phenominal, that even other famous pianists came to his concerts to see how certain things were mastered. Toscanini thought he was the best pianist in the world. I am an enormous fan of Vladimir Horowitz.

vocalpianist Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - have you read his biography by schonberg? It is wonderful!! I highly recommend it =] It makes these evenmore enjoyable

Matthewfawr Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Yes! Some would consider it inappropriate, but I love it. He never improvises outside the particular composers' style and it was always done with phenomenal flare.I don't suppose you can get this recital on DVD? I have it on video but have played it that many times it's nearly worn out!

ibclappin Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Vladimir's faith for music is like Einstein's faith for science.

DonFrankos Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - I think the only pianist that can is Volodos. of course, Horowitz was a better pianist than Volodos is now, but volodos is only 36 years old..horowitz was magic.. such finesse.. such control. amazing!

karffee Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - i got this on vcd, i guess, at home and ive watched it many times... now i watched it again i got some tears in my eyes...i still remembered the first time i saw it i was also like the audience "wahhhhhhh" at the end.... HAHAHAH~ and i just love how his hands "flying" over the piano in many pieces like he doesnt need a lot of strength to do this!! ohh but i try so hard! i wish i could have his hands LOL!

FabioThePianist Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - I love you Horowitz.

John19182004 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - And you're basing that on... what? A personal encounter? I highly doubt it.

John19182004 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - He performed a week later in Berlin, and 3 weeks later in Hamburg, and never performed again.

John19182004 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Thank God. Volodos is a virtuoso, but one day he'll realize that returning to the simplicity of some pieces is best: Sometimes less is more. He's still flexing his muscles though and enjoying it, but one day he'll realize there's such a thing as "overkill"

John19182004 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - more than a little unnecessary to talk smack. You probably can't even find middle-C on a piano.

pianotalent Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - This is not the case when the "less is more". Since the real music is not created today anymore, Volodos gives a new life, new breath to the music, which was played by the tons of pianists in the standard way of "the simplicity" - liked you said. That is the destination of the real artist, not just the standard pianoplayer.

demosj Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - If you Google: Horowitz transcriptions or Horowitz scores, the first link leads to a site with all his arrangements, including this one.
