Sonia O'Sullivan had finished 4th at the Olympics and World Championships but in 1994 was clearly the world's best middle distance runner. She broke the World best at 2000m and the European best at 3000m within a week before easily taking the European title at 3000m.

Aug 20, 2008 - People in this country have always been against Szabo for some reason i guess because she was always in the mix and beating our athletes but the romanians have a great history in distance running..they have the most forgotten olympic champion in Puica who won the ill fated budd - decker slaney race!
