LoveTheSupremes Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - She kind of reminds me of Minnie Riperton in this clip for some reason. The sound does too. I had always wondered why Freda wasn't a bigger star. She should have sung with her sister in the post Diana Supremes

jarbon5 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Ah, that radio jingle was cool!

jayedsel Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Wow, This was fantastic. The CKLW intro and then the song burst out of my speakers in STEREO.What A Treat !

Cheri050 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I have always loved this song, but haven't heard it since the 70's. What a great walk down memory lane. Thank you.

GBS1043 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Chris Quinn from WELW in Willoughby Ohio was the first program director to play "Band Of Gold" on the air. He has the gold record.

mrstep2me Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Yeah, I saw her on TV a few years back, and was shocked at how good looking she still is.

motownbaby Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I disagree with that one LoveTheSupremes....In my opinion, after Diana and Jean, it was a wrap! Freda and Sherrie Payne...are both too talented to be in some 3rd tier group. Just form another one...cuz honestly, the Supremes will forever be Diana's group!

horatio422006 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I wanna know where Mike got that K-Tel t shirt? My parents still have a K-Tel record selector that holds 24 LP's. I love how you knock the first one and the rest automatically flick through. They must've sold millions of those things.

themaltesebippy Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - 'You Brought the Joy' is a great song too.

rustyoo2006 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Haven't heard this song since 70. Have to admit, the song is not nearly as good as I thought it was when I was a pre-teen.

sugabear Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Fantastic vid Mike, very creative...keep up the good work!!!

MusicMike2 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Thank You!!!

mrtrashcan Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Super video, Mike. This is my favorite by Freda. It actually got a fair amount of airplay on Philly's WIP, an MOR station. Did you edit the end? No version I've heard has that extra segment in there.

MusicMike2 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - No Special Edit...But It Seams As Though There Were Several Different Versions Of Most Of The Hot Wax/Invictus Releases

oceanbound222 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I love the vocal, but the instrumental sounds so messy and strange. Musically it is unpleasant to listen to. Only Freda's voice makes it bearable.

Roadsidepictures Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Great and very seldemly heard song! To me, it sounds like it could have been a Motown song from the late 1960's.

jim02026 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - CKLW must have been a powerhouse of a station. Back in the late '60s, I remember tuning into CKLW very late at night....and I live in the Boston area!! What was their wattage? was it as strong as Boston's WBZ's 50,000 watts.

MusicMike2 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - CKLW Has 50,000 Watts, Too. A Real Blowtorch!

dllewiszz Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Excellent editing and production job on this one, Mike. More, please!!

MarvDETROIT Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - CKLW was MY radio station and I miss it a lot!

abashal Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - They had 50,000 watts along with an antenna that spanned through the windsor tunnel; combined with being located within the great lakes region provided an explosive signal reaching far beyond most stations of that era. There's a DVD out about the station that tells their story called the rise and fall of the big 8

tynertyner Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - The overproduction is so messy and undefined. Freda delivers, but just no magic. The entire track seems spliced together. Anyway, gotta love Freda and CKLW.

mrtrashcan Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - You're right, Mike, never gets airplay on oldies stations. Definitely Freda's best!

MuzzikLvr Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Love the K-Tel tee shirt!

mrob75 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - What a beautiful piece of music! Such lush instrumentation! I had never heard this gem before...Thanks Mike! I also love Freda's Bring the Boys Home...I'm surprised that our current anti-war movement has not resurrected this song! Although written for the Vietnam era, its words/sentiments may still hold true today.
