Aug 20, 2008 - haha, there's nothing wrong with the traffic lights. they actually do have a system in china, it's just 10000000x different than ours. they believe it's better to be polite rather than mad. For example, if someone is pulling into their lane even without their blinker on, the person slows down to let them in. Haha, pretty crazy huh?

Aug 20, 2008 - This is not a terrible way to operate traffic so long everyone behaves and pays attention to everyone around them. I would say roundabouts are perhaps the most efficient form of intersection if you want to keep cars moving and yield the most traffic. Traffic lights are the worst as they just delay traffic like crazy and promote the aggressive hurry up and wait driving style.

Aug 20, 2008 - this is something I noticed driving in the UK.. over-all they were 1000x more polite than what I'm used to here in Oz. Here indicating means "demand" or "stating current action". I indicate (as per the book) and I get horns ,yelling.. because the others are used to one blink and move.. They think I'm just a wee bit slow in darting out.. whereas, I'm just showing my intent and waiting ! I still think they need traffic control.. their injury/fatality rate must be sky high..
