Aug 20, 2008 - What an F-ing joke. Too bad Stone is not as practiced at biased "Documentries" as Michael Moore, or I would have looked into this film further. Indicuative from a man who was pissed off because while he "fought" a war in Vietnam his home country prospered. Go to hell, Stone.
AzraelG Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - There is no documentary that is unbiased, you don't see it on some because they fit your own bias. This documentary tries to show the "biased" side tha you'll never see in the US.
coltsyndicate Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - As a matter of fact, there are documentary filmmakers out there who do put fact finding and objective documentation above there own bias when making a film. They're usually not as "entertaining" as tabloid/junk journalism like this, so they don't get a wide release.
AzraelG Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Nope, there isn't
JFMJJ Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Stone asks a lot of hard questions in the other parts, mostly 6-9.

Aug 20, 2008 - Is that fidel's wife who is doing the translating? In the first minute, it appeared that the translator is fidel's wife. I'm just curious.
AzraelG Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - No, it's not his wife but Oliver actually asks her about her fillings about Fidel and it's very interesting.
chromelemon Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Wow, very interesting indeed. Thanks for posting.

Aug 20, 2008 - Cocuyoencendio has it exactly right. Juanita Vera was sparing Fidel the intrusion. Stone was just blundering around like a bull in a china shop with his questions. This was quite evident when he got Celia Sanchez's name wrong, referring to her as Cecilia. I know one thing for sure. I have travelled across Cuba, Santiago to the Pinar del Rio, and women love him. He is incredibly charismatic.

Aug 20, 2008 - is the lady interpreter Castro's wife?
denbenenki Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Mr. Castro, my life is of so little significance so few successes, I wonder what good is such a life? But when I think about you, I realize, you are not history, but of THIS TIME— that, if nothing else, it was great to have lived during the same era as you!I would like to think, had I ever been in a similar position, that I too would have used my greatness for good against evil—thank you for being the example I could only dream of being...
bayamome Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - no. she is his officical interpreter. he was only married once to Mirta and they divorced. But his woman for many years is Dalia with whom he has four sons. He has at least seven children.

Aug 20, 2008 - mr oliver stone: to do what you do in this film is very hard, that is to step outside the box, look further than ones own nose, further then ones own flag..and..see the truth regardless of where it is or what it may look like...thank you sir!
IamTLiveIam Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - are we suppose to beleive that all these smiles, these loving people, do not love this man???? why did the usa ban this movie from being shown here????
guatao80 Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Come om, the's no election in Cuba! How can a country is going to choose a governor that because of him the's an embargo that is causing economic situations!?/ because they love him!?? como on that's being naive, An for those people talking writting to Castro n Olive as if they were going to read your wrttings. THEY R NOT! That's is very naive or ignorant. People like you is/are maintaing that bastard n his brother on power, always idolizing another human being as if it was the choosen one.

Aug 20, 2008 - its better to idolize someone of power than to elect a killing machine...its not about how the president of a country is elected..its how he runs his office. and economic situations were created when the cia were putting cement in the milk of school children you bastard, how is that naive IN ANY WAY???
cocuyoencendio Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - You are right, however, in this case I believe Stone meant romantic love, but I think the translator was too shy to put it in those terms, or else she wanted to spare Fidel the intrusive question. Interesting. By the way, she is a very sharp translator and seems like a lovely persson.
