Jul 26, 2008 - i have this movie on VHS ^^ i like it.. but im not any big fan of the tv series... i did read that this movie was intended to be 1 of 3 movie with 2 to come... now ive seen these 2 movies have comed.. and wikipedia says they are based on the first movie.. not on the tv series.. my Question is this.. who came first stargate ark of truth or Stargate Continuum? need to know before i start watching them..
DavidW47 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - The extra chevron representing a galaxy is just an assumption. SG-1 suggests that the extra chevron might act "like an area code". So it is entirely possible that the extra chevron represents not just a single galaxy, but a local group of galaxies (a cluster). So there may not be a contradiction after all.
DuracellEnergizer Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Ark of Truth and Continuum are both based on the TV series. The TRUE Stargate sequels have not been made, and they probably WON'T be made, because stupid fanatical devotees of the stupid series won't let them get made.
DuracellEnergizer Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Davis was the only good thing about SG-1.
DuracellEnergizer Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - The movie CLEARLY stated that the destination on the other side of the Stargate was located within the KALIUM GALAXY, on the OTHER SIDE OF THE KNOWN UNIVERSE.When are you SG-1 fanboys going to accept the fact that the writers of SG-1 (Wright, Glassner, Cooper, etc.) have blatantly ignored the continuity of the movie so that they could do whatever the hell they want.
DuracellEnergizer Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - More BS.Using SEVEN symbols (therefore using SEVEN chevrons) they managed to open a wormhole to Abydos, located on the OTHER SIDE OF THE UNIVERSE in the KALIUM GALAXY. That is in DIRECT CONFLICT with the statement in SG-1 that extra chevrons are an absolute necessity to dial out to a location beyond the Milky Way. If you like SG-1, fine. But don't pretend its faithful to the movie and has not violated any of the movie's continuity.
DuracellEnergizer Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Richard Dean Anderson sucks as O'Neill.Sorry if that upsets you, Mr. Gater.
DuracellEnergizer Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Wrong on one point. The series DOESN'T have better effects.
Highguard1701 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - I agree. RDA played O'Neill as a wimpy character insead almost to the point of a parody while the orginal O'Neill played by Kurt Russel was anything but that. The movie was dark, serious and had effects that looks better than the series to even this day. I personally wished they had done movies instead of the series.

Jul 26, 2008 - right i agree with u on that duracellenergizer. thats what ive been saying.

Jul 26, 2008 - but eveybody seems 2 not get it

Jul 26, 2008 - no offense david but i dont deal in possible when it comes 2 movies. if they dont say it acts like that then 2 me it doesnt. but u bring up an interesting theroy. i could see that happening 4 a cluster of galaxies. but if that was true then it would just take them 2 the cluster not a specific galaxy.
DavidW47 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - The extra symbol identifies a cluster just as much as it does a galaxy. It wouldn't take them just to the cluster as there are seven other symbols that only identify a single point. For example my area code is shared with three other towns, yet when someone calls me they get through to just one location. It is also possible that a) there are some exceptions for Stargate addresses b) the SG-1 team themselves made an incorrect statement. They weren't expecting to be scrutinised so closely.
DuracellEnergizer Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - They desperately want the movie and the series to be 100% compatible so they willingly ignore the many discrepancies between the two.
BonoFhGirl Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Don't be so weird. Abydos also wasn't on the other side of the galaxy in the show, either. There are going to be differences that they can't explain. That is a big part of the Science Fiction aspect of the series.
SearchingFor42 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - THIS MOVIE ROCKS!
DuracellEnergizer Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - What do you mean Abydos wasn't on the other side of the galaxy in the show EITHER?First of all, in the movie Abydos was on the other side of the UNIVERSE, not the GALAXY.Second of all, Abydos WAS on the other side of the universe in the movie. And I can easily explain the differences. The people behind SG-1 didn't give a **** about remaining faithful to the movie. They saw a premise they liked, and that was all.A backstory for the Stargate universe existed, but they ignored it.
oriontiger68 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - o i know they are in deniel.
oriontiger68 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - well thats what happens when some1 else takes some1 elses story makes their own spin off of it and gets little things wronge. they need 2 get that shit right in my book. if ur gonna take some1 elses story and make ur own spin off of it then u should make ur facts in the story match.

GkarsEye Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - They sure don't make movies like they used to.. I love Stargate, wish there'd be more science fiction films like this released.

Jul 26, 2008 - With great sadness we must report that veteran actor Don S. Davis passed away on June 29, 2008. He was 65 years old.Don co-starred on Stargate SG-1 for the show's first seven years, helping to launch the enduring science fiction franchise. Davis played Major General George Hammond, base commander and a father figure to many of the show's characters.
