Aug 20, 2008 - the automobile is a complicated machine that women don't know how to operate.he was on to something:p

Aug 20, 2008 - The car shown in this commercial was the one Ford used in its early publicity photos--and came in a two-tone combination not officially offered (the middle section of the car was generally Colonial White instead of the dark color shown in the spot). "The newest kind of Ford--it's the bright new star of 'I Love Lucy!'" ... still true!

Aug 20, 2008 - LUCY, in the Car Business?? I never knew!!
Alessandro110 Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Awesome, you'd probably be done faster if you put the top up yourself, and I don't want to know how little it took for the mechanism to break down, but hey, we're all lazy. Still, it's really ridiculously slow to get up, it even made me laugh. Lucy and Ricky are funny though!

Aug 20, 2008 - awesome idea, although i know now why they were so prone to failure. here's what the top alone required to operate:10 power relays10 limit switches4 lock motors3 drive motors8 circuit breakers610 feet of electrical wire.

Aug 20, 2008 - omg it takes ten thousand years for the roof to attach, it sounded like they were about to blast off.

Aug 20, 2008 - Ford has a Better Idea!!!!!!!!!

Aug 20, 2008 - These cars were not "prone to failure". The mechanisms did have problems when the nut behind the wheel did not follow operating instructions, like stopping the action mid-way between up or down. These are very reliable, well engineered cars especially for 1957.
devja71 Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - ..now if overrated chevy had that roof, the media would have made it mega famous. ford was where it was at back then. mabey the 80's fords weren't much but the 50-60's sure where
LJAR28 Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - wow that was slow but that was the 50's

Aug 20, 2008 - How adorable! Lucy and Desi in a Ford commercial! This was when the craftmanship was solid and the makers stood behind their products-didn't need 'warranties' back then!!
Minofin Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - lol soo funny 5*

Aug 20, 2008 - Throughout history new machines were always prone to breakage or failure. Look at the first jet made by the Germans at the end of WWII, many of them weren't shot down, their engines failed but the reason being they were rushing brand new technology.
