a stallar composition by michael manring. Recorded in montreal on november 2nd when he dropped by while touring with Don Ross. I truely do appologise for the still frames at the end of the recording since it really breaks up the flow of these incredible melodies. enjoy!

Aug 20, 2008 - I don't really think he "wanted to prove" something, it sounds more like he wanted to express something through this melody. It evokes a peaceful feeling to me...

Aug 20, 2008 - I saw a video with Sheehan where he stated that he usually just soloed as fast as he could up and down the neck in the mode/chord he was in, straight through the scales. Where is the creativity in that? Then go listen a composition like Three Views or Portrait - which uses multiple odd meters. I love everything about Jaco! I'm not a huge fan of solo bass, but I also enjoy Manring and saw him live!

Aug 20, 2008 - This is awesome, how is he changing the tunings so quickly?

mihogo Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Zon basses offer this technology, you are able to have 3 simultanely affinations in the same string! You just need to pull something on the bass' head and done! you've got the second affination, then you make something to the bridge and you got the third affination

Aug 20, 2008 - he means what he is playing. for all his critics who think he is just flashy technique, this piece is slow and brooding and gorgeous...
