Aug 20, 2008 - I can´t believe it. My all-time favourites on video! I had never seen them before! (but listened to this song a hundred times on their LP.) Especially Kate. Love her forever! (Do you have more? Heart like a wheel? Go, leave? ANYTHING??)

Aug 20, 2008 - the McGarrigle Sisters debut lp still remains my favorite. i had the good fortune to catch them live at the Chicago School of Folk a number of years back. part of the pleasure of seeing them live was watching Kate and Anna alternate instruments from song to song. but the highpoint was definitely hearing them sing Mendocino for the encore. in that room i certainly wasn't the only one left with tears in my eyes...

Aug 20, 2008 - What beautiful voices & lyrics. I can't find anything from the slbum "Heartbeats Accelerating". Favorite song on that album is "I Eat Dinner"

Aug 20, 2008 - This is my absolute favorite song. I'm 39 and lucky to have an older spouse--no one I know has even heard of the McGarrigles, except passing references in articles about Rufus Wainwright. What a shame. Thank you for making my day.

Aug 20, 2008 - Back when their first album came out a musician friend of mine gave me his complimentary copy cause he didn't like it. I've never understood that as it quickly grew on me, and this song was one of the reasons. 30 years have not dimmed the power of this song to move me. What a gift these women have, not only to be able to create such an evocative and stirring song, but to be able to sing it with even more emotional power.

Aug 20, 2008 - No one--though many do justice artfully--to this beautiful ballad. OH! Thanks you. Dawn in Humboldt, north of Mendocino by an octave, tempered by radical transposition...sigh. Play it Again StAlphege!

SFGAsue Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I've been fortunate enough to see The McGarrigles at The Bottom Line in NYC many times thanks to my dear friend Robert B. Seeing them in concert has been one of the highlights of my 60 years. Thank you Kate & Anna...and Robert.
