Aug 20, 2008 - samseth, the dance form is actually a re-enactment of the battle between Goddess Durga and Mahishasura. The sticks are supposed represent swords.

Aug 20, 2008 - HI...I guess, this is very traditional Gujarati folk dance and now a days rare to see. However, during Navratri (generally between October - November) government of Gujarat celebrates Vibrant Gujarat Festiva. During that time, you can enjoy the dandia-raas (this dance) for nine nights!
hngry4mcdz Says:

kohlgill Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Modhi may have killed many things; joy is probably the least of those.
kohlgill Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - You might check out some of the college dance groups. But why would you "dump" me just because I pointed out the completely unnecessary zooms of Modhi?
kohlgill Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Wow, this is cool. The only thing ruining it is the zoom-ins on Modhi in the background. Does anyone else smell genocide? Maybe it's just me.
