Jul 26, 2008 - Cullen versus Robinson. I'm stunned theres even a comparison. Cullen was kicking ass against the worlds best in Union for a long time. Robinson to be fair was playing for England who were regularly playing lesser nations. Robinson scores some good trys, but Im sorry never ever like the amount Cullen did. Sorry, I think its a stink comparison Matt Burke is the more accurate one. He scored tries every bit as good as Robinson and was Cullens contempory so to Joubert.

Jul 26, 2008 - 100m is pretty irrelevant, its his burst over the first 5m that causes the damage. he hits full speed in just a couple of yards and thats what makes him so dangeroushes quick, but i dont think hes exceptionally quick, just got amazing acceleration

Jul 26, 2008 - Robinson was so respected because he's known as one of the most professional players ever. not only did he make it union but in league as well. the man never lost his cool and was always a total gentleman. Shane Williams reminds me very much of Cullen. however Cullen is certainly stronger and his top speed would beat Shane, not sure who in terms of acceleration.

Jul 26, 2008 - Yes, I agree he did make a fantastic transistion from league. But if its all out rugby I'd have to have Cullen. People forget that he was so good he took out Glen Osbourne. Osbourne was such a gifted player I mean he would have been a handful for Robinson himself. Hmmmm Robinsons a little chunkier than Cullen so I reckon I'd say Cullen for acceleration.

Jul 26, 2008 - Cullen's bigger than Robinson (5'11 vs 5'8), and from watching them I'm almost certain that Robinson had better acceleration. Cullen packed more of a punch and might have been faster over distance. It's hard to compare all these things really. Robinson was probably the more unique player, for his ability to dance around defenders in very tight spaces, but Cullen was a supreme finisher.

Cullen was incredibley twinkle toed could kick pass and tackle could play center wing, was awesome under the high ball bar one or two slip ups and of course played fullback extremely well. Im sorry but Robinson was simply a very good player made to look even better by having ordinary English backs around him.

Jul 26, 2008 - I would think describing Robinson as being "chunkier" than Cullen is the most bold and incorrect call I've seen on here, as well as the idea that he had better acceleration. Robinson was a great player who is being made to look average by armchair critics with chips on their shoulders.

Ummmmm sorry mate theres been fullbacks through out the years that have kicked Robinsons arse. To call Robinson one of the great fullbacks is a travesty and to compare him to Cullen is doubly so.
