Jul 26, 2008 - He's right though, isn't he? They made a wonderful debut album, then took seven years to make a very average follow up with an ironic title and in between had Turns Into Stone, which was pretty much a best of/B-Side/early stuff which was in very small parts great, mostly shit and partly good.

Jul 26, 2008 - I'm the man who shot the boss, I pinned him down and blew his face off. I'm doing time with weirdo kind, hustling and rustling and watching from behind.

Jul 26, 2008 - Lazyitus, Are the Roses big in America? Do they just have a cultish following? You lot miss out on some fucking Amazing British bands because you generally won't trust anything that isn't MOR American. Not you personally, of course but as a country, it's a real shame. It's the same with your bands too though, so many of your greatest bands (Pixies, Ramones, White Stripes etc etc) had to come over to the UK to make a go of it because they just weren't being accepted in the US.

Triplesod Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Why are you saying "yaw", you weirdo? Think about the way that reads, makes you come across as a right cunt!Anyway, U2, as shit as they are, as much are they wankers, have admitted to being very influenced by the Roses. I dunno if the songs Kas mentioned are influenced by 2nd Coming though as I have never heard them (and will hopefully manage to continue to avoid them).

Triplesod Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - There's some right fucking idiots on YouTube mate. I really don't know why people have given you so many thumbs down. It's pathetic that they can get so angry about another persons opinion, no matter how valid it is. You even apologised for your opinion (not that there was any need to).Anyway, I must say, you are completely wrong about those songs sounding like something from the first album. They were a completely different direction.

Triplesod Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - He never said they weren't from 2nd Coming, mate. He said they sounded like songs from the first. They don't, obviously but he obviously thinks they do.

lazyitus Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - They are quite unknown here. Me and a friend discovered them in 1997. Suddenly Oasis did not sound so good anymore! The Roses became my religion, but it is rare to meet anyone who knows of them. Maybe if you sing Love Spreads chorus some will say "oh yeah that sounds familiar..."The band that i love that i can't believe hasn't broken through here is the Charlatans. They are so good.

Jul 26, 2008 - 1:05 such an awesome musical interlude. No drums, no singing, just Squire showing the world that he is the best guitarist of all time!

Triplesod Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - The Madchester scene was culturally very important on both sides of the Atlantic and it is such a shame that history doesn't recognise it as so. NYC took to Madchester/Manchester music brilliantly. Especially, seemingly, The Happy Mondays (who I quoted in my first reply to you, from the song Lazyitus).I'm sure, if it was more popular in the USA, you Yanks would here a lot of American influence in there, ie, northern soul, detroit, Cali soul, cali psych (Love) etc. Cheers for the reply!

Jul 26, 2008 - Hear, not "here".

StephenFlagg Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Love the Stone Roses . . . Second COming was my favorite.

highwayNo9 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I think the second album was too late, the direction they moved in was lost due to that 4 year gap and the moment for the second had passed, still a great record; and the second album for most groups is always the tricky album, the 3rd is normally a groups masterpiece and had they stuck together brown, squire, mani & reni then this 3rd album would have eclipsed everything else at the time!

apjohno Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Great tune... interesting vid...I'll never see Ian Brown in quite the same way again.

Schneider10101 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Pointless shit video that makes no sense! Amazing song by an amazing band from 2 amazing decades with 2 amazing albums!Gotta love The Stone Roses ♥

ffmcracdcftw Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - second coming sounds alot like ian brown solo songs

stripeysoul Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - the second coming only got slated cause it wasn't the same as the the stone roses.... if they'd done the same it would have got slated.... welcome to england....

Verve20 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Yeh your right. The Roses couldn't win, I was personally glad they made a different album to the first cos is shows they weren't the sort of band to rest on their laurals

ml8ml8 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - You guys think U2 ripped them off with Discotheque?

Verve20 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Some of Discotheque sounds like Begging You, but Begging you is better. U2 proberly heard this, liked it and thought..'we could do someting like this'.

ml8ml8 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Must say like ot more than Discotheque

MCBenjyness Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Does anyone no where I can find the ' Mr Ben' version of this video.???????

katy3476 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Sounds nothing like U2's discotheque

BonoAndU2 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Discotheque better. Much better.I don't see any similarities between the two songs, so I vote Discotheque.Just my opinion.

zoogarten Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I don´t get it. Someone is saying U2´s "Discotheque" from the album "Pop" (released 1997) sounds like this song which would mean U2 stoled material from Stone Roses? Gimme a break!Only connecting thing between these two songs is their music videos.

ml8ml8 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - zoogarten you such a toss haha.U2 actually said themselves that for the pop ulbum they listened to stacks of other artists material. I not saying it sounds like but there is a sound that is similar. It has nothing to do with stealing material, it is about getting ideas from it.
