Aug 20, 2008 - What a thrill - Diver Dan! I've been reviewing scripts for current TV and animation projects and this ancient script and production is actually better than much of what I'm reading now. Thanks for the peek into TV gone by.

TVNETWORKS Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Shes not a Fox, but a mermaid.....(Joke)

jberton1060 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I remember watching this show as a kid in the '60s...I just want to know how they made that stuff.

TVNETWORKS Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - they shot through a fish tank

TLJ1945 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I was 14 years old when "Diver Dan" started showing as part of a local Chicago TV show called "Paddleboat". I considered myself "too old" for DD but, fortunately, had a younger sister who watched it. This allowed me to watch it without the constant teenage fear of losing dignity. I just loved the trigger fish with the constant cigarette in his mouth!

avidviewer67 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Now you mention it, TLJ1945 -- a children's television character with a cigarette in his mouth would never be allowed now! :-)

avidviewer67 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Oh very funny, TVNETWORKS! :-)I do agree with coolestdude80, though; Miss Minerva was *so* beautiful...

avidviewer67 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Did Diver Dan and Miss Minerva ever actually meet in any of the episodes?

guitarcapo Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - It was on in Chicago WGN on the Ray Raynor show. I remember there was a protagonist baracuda fish

RBQueene Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Boy this brings back memories - I was 7 and Miss Minerva was sooo beautiful. Somehow I forgot that DD talked like a ham stage actor!

wontonga Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I was a little boy in LA when I watched this show every morning. Thanks for letting me remember!

hbailen Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - After a bad report card, my parents did not allow me to watch TV for a while. My big sister "negotiated" with them to allow me to keep watching this show. I was a big fan!

USBeast Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I remember Ray Raynor but Diver Dan was a staple on Garfield Goose before Ray's show.

RUSTYCAT97 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Thats what me and my brothers always said that they would get it on under water. But you never ever saw the real diver Dan.

RUSTYCAT97 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - In Chigago it was part of the Garfield Goose show on channel 9 after school at 5pm.

neatoauctions Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Clearly, Minerva had some hot-cups.

meesterfonnyboy Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Diver Dan is credited as being portrayed by Frank Freda, but that "ham stage actor" voice was definitely Allen Swift's (as were the voices of all the fish). Whether Freda and Swift were the same person I don't know. If not, it's unclear why Freda was dubbed.

primeralives Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - I was a little kid in Los Angeles in the early 60's and remember this show well. Wasn't there a bad gangster fish with a cigarette in it's mouth in some of the episodes?
