Sep 4, 2008 - heres my take... you could just ignore the bible and do the picking and choosing for the right reasons...for the good of fellow humans. shocking isn't it.

Sep 4, 2008 - Nice to hear clarity from someone of a rather neutral position.

Sep 4, 2008 - AJ is one neurotic motherfucker, even for a Jew. When you're neurotic by Jewish stacdards you can basically be pronounced supreme allied commander of neuroticism.
Katalyzt Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - Indeed

Sep 4, 2008 - Haha, this guy is a crack up.I disagree with some of his conclusions though. Jesus said "he who is without sin cast the first stone". A lot of stuff changed when Jesus came on the scene.
TLCTugger Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - ^^ to the extent they are not harmful, why oppose irrational rituals ? ^^Rejecting evidence IS always harmful. Respecting moldy myths gets you sharia law and such BS. If you are sure of something without evidence, you are an obstacle to peace and prosperity. For example, because its in the bible it is absurdly difficult to persuade people that circumcision is senseless and harmful, and get legislators to protect all infants equally from non-therapeautic genital cutting.

Sep 4, 2008 - This was more interesting than I thought. I only watched it this morning because I had nothing else to do.
Mrmoc7 Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - Sharia law and circumcision are harmful irrational rituals. Even protecting yourself from sitting on a chair that has been sat on by a menstruating woman can be a very harmful ritual (not joking). You have to choose which irrational rituals aren't harmful, and then follow those...that's what he's saying. If someone then chooses a ritual that is harmful to society, but which the individual doesn't consider so, then we'll call them a fundamentalist and arrest them.

Sep 4, 2008 - Religion is such a retarded conceptShame that people believe in this stuff.
ratholin Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - Why wrestle to get something worthwhile out of the bible to base your morality on? By the very nature of the statement you're using your morality to decide if there is anything good in the bible. It's the same as wrestling to find something worthwhile in mein kompf, or finnegan's wake or alice in wonderland to base your morality on. Take some freaking responsibility for your own actions.
jk609 Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - not all people have circumcision performed for religious beliefs.

Sep 4, 2008 - I dont beleive what I read in wikipedia today, why the fuck should I beleive in the bronze age version? great analogy.
DreamTheatre17 Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - one thing about this is that most or at least alot of the old testement rules (ie stoning adulterers) have been changed. When Jesus died on the cross he spilt his blood to pay for our sins. (sacrifice was spilling the blood of animals to pay for their sins before the crucifixion) and A.J is right when he says we have to decide in his perspective, but they were weeded out (ie chosen for us) when Jesus died on the cross.

pecierpoldo Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - So, what are the ever so arbitrary and sometimes even harmful laws in the Bible for?
pecierpoldo Says:
Sep 4, 2008 - Then what are those stupid laws in the Bible for? Like "Don't sit in the chair where a menstruating woman sat"? It's just there for fun and entertainment? Read the Old Testament, pal, and see that Moses is dead serious about his laws.
3daybrook Says:
