Aug 21, 2008 - I love the job. In fact, I often patrol the exact freeway where this film shot was taken. The 2 freeway south. I love every minute of it.

Aug 21, 2008 - Kudos to you, 55. You're a proud man (of your job, that is) and have every right to be. I'm sure you're made of good stuff.

Aug 21, 2008 - God, has it been that long?! Man I was 8 years old in the fall of 1977 when this show came out. And in the summer of 78 we moved from Chicago to San Diego and my oldest brother went to Pepperdine in Malibu. I always liked going up there because of where the show was filmed in the same areas where we went in L.A. Great show and great memories, thanks muttonpies!

Aug 21, 2008 - I loved this show and I ride a motorcycle. When I'm out riding, I think of this theme song alot and my friend that used to live two doors away from me and took me on rides when I was young.

Aug 21, 2008 - Do the police really ride around with no protective clothes on apart from boots n helmet, shades.....is the tarmac softer in America?

Aug 21, 2008 - Welcome to America circa 1979. And probably the rest of the world too.

Aug 21, 2008 - I had a Kwak 550 back in the 80's & have a Kwak 1200 now, even back then we wore leather jackets etc, only you feel the pain when you fall off not the rest of the world. I visit a site called Killboy - com to view the pix of all the bikes that travel the Dragon - deals gap in the USA & the amount of riders/pillions who fly around still with just t-shirts & jeans is unreal ...welcome to the USA today...nothing changes it seems.

Aug 21, 2008 - Ugh, this was the disco-fied version of the original theme song. Always liked the original theme song better, from the 1st season.
paktype Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - Also, didn't it seem that every car chase took place at about 30 mph? And they never used their guns, not once, ever.
clavdig Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Bare in mind that that CHiPs was filmed on unopened freeways
guyver214 Says:
Aug 21, 2008 - thats bedcause they took place at 30 mph, and most cops never use their guns.. only far fectched movies and tv do cops go around shooting things randomly. even when i was in the army, as air crew i had to account for every round i was issued. herd about some one loseing a clip in bosnia..lol better to run then shoot sometimes lol

Aug 21, 2008 - Of course. It would have been impractical to film the series on actual operational freeway.
