At the highest intensity of the cold war in the 1960s, the CIA toppled Lumumba, Nkrumah and African leaders who fostered 'non-alligned' partnerships. In the Congo, the United States government used Joseph Mobutu as a satellite against what was called "threat of Communism" for nearly 30 years. Also known as Sese Seko Nkuku Ngbendu wa Za Banga, Mobutu was the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the 1960s, 70s, 80s and 90s. His mismanagement of his country's economy was characterized by enriching himself off the country's resources, and off billions of dollars from innocent Americans' tax money that was siphoned by successive administrations of the United States government.~

Aug 20, 2008 - Ok,,, i think i have to say this, Zaire was and still one of the richest country in africa (not for the population but...), and one of the reason the us wanted to be aside of mobutu was the strategic position of zaire against urss and all the diamonds and gold and... this country has. Don't tell me i'm a fool because you know this is the truth. Money was coming from the congo to the us not the contrary.

mastki2000 Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Americans think everything the ousiders have was donated by the USA,all the money from cobalt , gold, diamond couldn't make him rich! America is a blessed country but its people are becoming arrogants. God who blesses hates arrogance

Aug 20, 2008 - mastki2000,Assume I give you my country's diamonds and resources worth $100 billion & you give me $2 billion in cash which I pocket for myself. Since my country's natural resources are worth more than your cash, can I claim that I never took any money from you? This video gives u a slice of the facts that relate to U.S. payments to Mobutu (check the title and description). This video does NOT suggest that the U.S. never benefitted from Congo's resources. Your intepretation is out of place.

Aug 20, 2008 - Americans population think that their government don't like dictators. What they do not know is that their country has created, breeded, supported and invited dictators at the white house. Leave africa alone
