Aug 20, 2008 - Doug Peacock understands the bear better than anyone ever has. Read this one and his other book, Grizzly Years, and I guarantee when you put them down your view of the bear will be forever changed. He brings you into wilderness, into his world, with his very personal and gripping stories. I also recommend "Walking it Off" as a must read by Peacock and his documentary, "Peacocks War" as a must see.

Aug 20, 2008 - What we need is a wilderness corridor that runs from the Yukon to Yellowstone. That's what will save the bears and wolves.

Aug 20, 2008 - The Grizzly Bear! Don't mess with the grizzly bear! A buddy of mine told me of his lifelong friend, a wilderness tour guide in Alaska, losing his life to a grizzly. He says that is why he always carries a .44 Magnum with him. Always! Chicken, Alaska for his post office box.
