Sep 4, 2008 - Lovely singing, great trill and runs and better top C than most only ever Sopranos!

Sep 4, 2008 - What a jewel you have posted. One of my favorite vocal selections performed by oneof everyone's favorite artist. THANS AGAIN!

Sep 4, 2008 - Beautiful!

Merlin1940 Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - I didn't know this soprano, who seems pretty good. But she is too mannered for me (e.g. the wonderful "Tu virginum corona" loses here its spirit), and the video has cuts that are unnecessary and very badly placed.Mon 3 Mar 2008 08:41 GMT

Merlin1940 Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - (BTW, the right spelling, "Exsultate", in the title, would draw better search results)Mon 3 Mar 2008 10:41 GMT

Sep 4, 2008 - Dearest Merlin, find and make the video...I had a 20 minutes piece to put in the 10 mn allowed by Youtube...And if you don't know Shirley Verrett, just have a look at my collection.

Merlin1940 Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - Thx for the reply. Then you could make it into 3 videos:1. Exsultate Jubilate (~4m20s), Fulget amica dies (~0m55s) = ~5m15s2. Tu virginum corona (~6m20s)3. Alleluia (~2m30s)I highly recommend you Google "Exsultate Silete Venti Sylvia McNair" = a Gardiner CD where the 4 last of the 17 tracks are the 4 parts of Exsultate sung by Sylvia McNair. Also, YouTube "Tu virginum corona" (by too overlooked amateur Elizabeth Maurey).Mon 3 Mar 2008 13:03 GMT

Sep 4, 2008 - Thanks for the others singers. I personaly adore Arleen Auger. The idea here was not the piece but the person, who is rather known to sing Azucena or Dalila, and sang int his same concert Isolde's Death... I am not allowed to put here an entire piece, you maybe are aware of that.:-)

Merlin1940 Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - « you maybe are aware of that »I didn't think of it (but I should have!)Thx for the infos16:12 GMT

Sep 4, 2008 - One of the greatest voices of all times, at least to my ear. Thanks for the post.

Sep 4, 2008 - Hi Merlin1940, just for your info, both spellings are actually fine. Two of my music dictionaries give the 's' but my Mozart encyclopaedia gives without, and my Latin dictionary gives the 's' as optional.

Merlin1940 Says:

Sep 4, 2008 - Thx sophisticatedpengui. I had not checked, you did! Thx againAnd I notice that Youtube "Mozart Exultate" gives as many results as with the "s" (Now Google gives 3x more with "s", and that includes Wikipedia)Mon 28 Apr 2008 23:51 GMT

Sep 4, 2008 - You said that right! She also sings Isolde's Liebestod on this same concert. Amazing!
