A short German documentary on the Diehl brothers, followed by a segment from a film of one of their most popular characters "Mecki"The brothers Diehl produced an exceptional case in the film business over a period of 40 years. Hermann sketched the dolls and Ferdinand led direction. They developed over 60 films, predominantly pure doll films. The most well-known film was the RACE BETWEEN the HARE AND the HEDGEHOG (1938/39), by the brothers Grimm. They also made WOLF AND FILTERS GEISSLEIN (1939) and GESTIEFELTE KATER (1940) The hedgehog figure "Mecki" attained largest popularity as an icon of the West German post-war period.
