A true masterwork. I have seen and heard many recordings of this piece and I must say there are just 2 or 3 of them that I like. And this recording...Don't like it again. I think he plays the "vocal notes" in the beginning, if you know what I mean, way to hard. But that is just my opnion of course...enjoy :D Oh and for a really good performance have a look here: http://www.icarus3.com/download.php?view.9I love it :D

Jul 26, 2008 - there are just some ''climaxes'' in the beginning ( that i really like ) his interpretation is one of the best.

Jul 26, 2008 - wow! talk about a Fortissimo! couldn't go louder but with a sledgehammer... that is just what this piece needs though, the sheer and raw power of a desperate soul. gilels is a master of the piano...

Jul 26, 2008 - You are so right. The one on that website is simply amazing! Thanks!

IchLiebeMetal Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - would agree that he's a bit hard on the notes at the beginning, but otherwise, this is a brilliant interpretation.

Jul 26, 2008 - He needs to put stronger hair gel in. Compare his hair at the beginning to his hair at the end.

Jul 26, 2008 - I agree with u, the version of the website is waaay better. Still, his hair is awesome lol and the one of the website doesnt show his hair xD xD

Egoduck87 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - i dont know what you like in the other version..In my opinion it fails in evoking tension in the first part and when it gets faster in the middle it's played a little boring.Good performance, though

Jul 26, 2008 - This doesn't even come close to hearing Rachmaninoff himself playing this piece D:. I really don't like this interpretation.

Jul 26, 2008 - Strangely, I like this interpretion better than Rachmaninoff himself's...which I know is weird, because Rachmaninoff played it the way it was intended to be played, because he wrote it. But I still can't help but prefer the more romantic interpretation. XDD

Xqwrtz Says:
