Aug 20, 2008 - Remember that PTA is a huge Robert Altman fan. He even recommends that every screenwriter be familiar with Altman's Nashville.
MKrick Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - egad, Popeye! I recently saw Punch Drunk Love and *knew* I had heard this song before but couldn't place it.
Guernicaman Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - But eventho this Robin Williams version of Popeye has become a sort of cult-classic, this movie is kind of an embarassment to Altman. I bet he regrets doing it.
KENSHIMUYO Says:

Aug 20, 2008 - Excellent melody. It stands on it's own, without the movie.

Aug 20, 2008 - I have a problem. I've played this video no less than 100 times since I've watched the movie. Her voice... it's like some beacon of soft, welcoming lullabies that woo you into a subtle, soft coma of relaxation. Is it just me?

Aug 20, 2008 - Harry Nilsson is one of my favorite songwriters of all time. It's taken me years to get this song out of my head, but I just happened upon it here. Thanks a lot. No, seriously... thanks. :)

TheWaterScorpion Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - Those are two great actors doing a song written by a great songwriter. I just wish the movie itself hadn't been padded with all of those unnecessary fight scenes. They should have just beaten up the set and costume designers instead, because those costumes and sets do NOT go together!

Aug 20, 2008 - My favorite scene from this movie. Love it!
MrBadAssMofo Says:
Aug 20, 2008 - When I was young, I always thought this was a silly ass song, but now that I hear it, this entire scene was fantastic. This song was dreamy and enchanting, and if you could pull Olive Oyl out of a comic, you would get Shelly Duvall. They did a fabulous job to make her up for this role.
