Aug 20, 2008 - I'm not a huge Lovitz fan, but pranging him for NewsRadio isn't fair. He stepped into an impossible situation. Hartman was SO good in that. There was no way to replace him. Query to the world. . .Supposing you could get ANYONE, who would you have replaced Hartman with? My only vote would be Will Farrell (sic?) but he wasn't famous yet.

Aug 20, 2008 - I think Stephen Colbert would be great in Hartman's role (Bill) on NewsRadio. Or maybe Will Arnett. And one just to throw out there: Steve Martin circa mid-seventies. I think they all share that outrageous overconfidence in spite of humiliating failure. And though Lovitz ended up getting the position with arguably mediocre results, I think he was a reasonable choice. Think about the "Thespians" sketch with Hartman and Lovitz, or Lovitz' "Helloooo-Goodbyeeye" sketch with Tom Hanks.
