Jul 26, 2008 - I owned 5 Amigas and loved each second of the moment...from the meditation guru's, Brilliant games, Demoscene and of course Octamed v3!
iTalented Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - It truly sounds like you either didn't own an Amiga or you didn't take full advantage of it's capability! At the time of release the Amiga was way ahead of any computer at the time!
davesni Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - na i never had one but my friend did and he had a game about people shooting each other. but the people didnt look like real people they just looked like crap!
agw9262 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - You're a donkey. Nostalgia is important, and do you not care where the capabilities of the modern PC come from? The youth of today...ungrateful and pathetic
agw9262 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Your comments make you a knob. Grow up, accept the past and respect the fact that some people respect the past. You are the youth (disgrace) of today
davesni Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - no way man...you're wrong you're so wrong!i played this when it came out...but it just couldnt cope.may i ask what u used urs for? and it never even did internet
agw9262 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - You played what when it came out? Which one of the thousands of games produced over the years? And just what couldn't it cope with exactly?I used mine for gaming, word processing - managed to get through college with it, DTP - used to help print a magazine oh... and internet. Which it could do - iBrowse for example was a popular browser, I was online with Demon with it.All that on a stock A500 - same speed as the A1000 with ECS graphics not OCS and 0.5m chip ram.

Jul 26, 2008 - we need a show like today G4 SUCKS BALLS
h792 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - That's true, it was. I think it was more expensive than the STfm so we settled for that, which was fine, but the Amiga was quite a bit better, looking back.
Benlyafi Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Great!
konrad303 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Listening to an mp3 while loading a picture would have been difficult on the original Amiga. Apart from neither mp3 nor jpg existing back then, the first Amiga only had 256K memory, while a regular mp3 already is much bigger. And although the Amiga was quite a fast machine for its time, it was much too slow to decode mp3 in real time. And where did you get the idea of the first graphical net browser being on Amiga? What do you mean?
konrad303 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - They all stole from Xerox.
konrad303 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Amiga was not pre-IBM PC. IBM released the first PC model in 1981. In 1985, when the Amiga was released, most of the IBM compatible PCs around however were still basically the same as the original PC. Also the XTs and ATs, IBM's successors of the original PC, were hugely inferior to the Amiga. Even Apple's Macintosh, which came one year earlier and was much more expensive, couldn't compete with the Amiga technologically.
konrad303 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - At least the Basic that came with the Amiga was by Microsoft. Actually even the Commodore Basic that was used on all the 8 Bit Commodore Machines was based on Microsoft Basic, which is why the start screen on a C128 mentions a 1977 copyright for Microsoft.
konrad303 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - The first Mac was presented one year earlier. It had a WIMP Interface and a 68000 CPU just like the Amiga. But the Mac had only 2 colors(!) and 128K Memory in the original model, while the Amiga had 4096 colors, higher resolutions and more memory (256K originally). It also had digital stereo sound, a much better multitasking operating system and two mouse buttons! :) Actually, it was the Amiga which put the Macintosh to shame (the Atari ST already was better than the Mac).
ancalimonungol Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - yep I know. I actually said what became possible. Not What was possible. BTW I listened to an mp3 using my A500 with 1MB RAM. It decoded the file first which took many minutes. But in the end I did it. :) Way before people knew what an mp3 was.
ancalimonungol Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Mosaic was the name the browser.
kasi7777 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - lol this is 1985 not 2008 xD
