Aug 21, 2008 - Maith thú Just to let you know. Baile is never pronounced BAL-YA only learners pronounce it like that. Native speakers in the Gaeltacht simply pronounces it as ''bah-lih''. If it was pronounced BALYA it would be spelled ''abhaillle' . I hope this helps.
