Aug 21, 2008 - After that show ended, we went in, and went up on stage...It was so wierd. All those years of watching that show and the stage was so small. And the fabulous "star burst" background used only at the end was just tinsel paper glued onto painted masonite!! Oh well, that's show biz! When it was revived in NYC two years ago, I didn't go to see it because I heard they did an "exact" recreation - and I didn't want my original feelings to change.

Aug 21, 2008 - I saw this show on Christmas night, 1975, I still have my ticket somewhere. Most amazing show of my life. I saw the show about 5 times before it closed. Last time I saw it was standing room at the last public performance - it was a matinee. There was one guy who kept yelling the character's names when each one came out - Everyone started yelling at him to shut up - it was so funny, he was causing such a scene. That night was the expensive benefit performance and we hung out outside.

Aug 21, 2008 - So, is the dancing they're doing actual choreography created by Michael Bennett, even though that's not really him giving the instruction?

CAPTAINOCTAVE Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - i conducted a chorus line for a highschool production... the most fun thing ever to conduct.

wvkevin Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - The close of that scene is just chilling! The best musical of all time, hands down.

nekonuk Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - yes, it's all the original bennet choreography. The instruction is all part of the show, the instructor's one of the characters within the musical. This is the original cast doing the opening number on the tony awards.

Aug 21, 2008 - I briefly knew Tommy Walsh, one of the original cast. He was a lifelong friend of a dear friend of mine, she passed away about a year ago, Tommy passed soon after. He had a fantastic career, as a performer and choreographer on Broadway, and an extremely nice person. I'm glad I got to know him a little. Beautiful man, RIP Tommy.

Aug 21, 2008 - Thank you so much for posting this. I get chills everytime I watch the entire opening sequence, but never as much as I do when I see the original cast do it.

Aug 21, 2008 - rly cute! i know how to dance this one :Dbut it's a bit shorter, not the live-version

writer8788 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Oh my gosh, they're so fantastic. It's like they have springs xD

Aug 21, 2008 - I think the only time there was ever more applause at the Tonys was when the Chorus Line cast did the finale later during this awards show

Aug 21, 2008 - We did this dance for musical theatre! Actually for the dance recital. It was soooo much fun. I love the choreography, although it made my feet sore! LOL

markmole Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Cooool... actually I'm not a dancer, but I love to figure out the first combination (it's probably better than aerobics)... and I just tried it for the first time in front of my new cat, and he FREAKED OUT and ran from the room :-O

justify56 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - I idolize this musical! I learned this combo by mirroring everything in this very video, and it actually started my dancing career.

SchoolDazeMusical Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - I auditioned for this show today and we're doing the original Broadway choereography. Our audition was the part from 1:02 to 1:10.

lothlorien88 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Its been a year since I did this musical ; albeit only as a minor support cast but boy, what an experience! Made me fall in love with Broadway and dancing. You're right; my feet hurt like mad and I pulled a hamstring once during a rehearsal.

JoanieDavis Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - markmole, you have done the world a service by posting this, BUT- is the audio and video out-of-sync for anybody else? Check when Zach says "Right" if his lips match the word- they don't for me, which means the music and dancing are not in sync. Is there any way to correct this?? Or can anyone re-post it? This choreography is too superb to not be anywhere on YouTube in the correct form.If it's in sync for everyone else and it's just a problem with my computer or something, sorry.

heyitsusthree Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - I was taking a class with a person who was in wicked and chorus liine and we learned from 1:02-1:23 it was sooooo fun!!!

NinjaBunni Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Wow. My musical theatre choreogropher tried to teach me this dance. I epic failed.

jaso937 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - I find it incredibly hard to believe that Mario Lopez does this choreography 8 times a week and looks amazing doing it. He's talented enough to do it, but i'm sure others in the cast make him look bad...

PuffLippy06 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - I had one encounter with him & he was a TOTAL dick. I wanted to say "Dude... it was only 'Saved by the Bell'..."

HoneyChile312 Says:

Aug 21, 2008 - Well..I just saw it this past Saturday...and he was GREAT..but keep in mind, he only does it ONCE! It's the dancers that have to do it over and over...he's really good..I mean, most of the show is his "voice" from the audience...he doesn't have to be as amazing as this Zach. :)
