His unique and tastefull style sets him apart from any other pentatonic guitar player you wil hear, Often understated and very original.He may have been surpassed by vai and satch ect with their mind boggling prowess over the fretboard, but he is often imitated and has always been highly influential to anybody who plays the guitar.
