Oct 11, 2008 - Angela Lansbury is definitely one of the best actresses ever. Unforgettable also her rendition of "Goodbye little yellow bird" when she acted as Emma in "Murder, she wrote". However it seems quite impossible to find lyrics of this song on the Internet and for an Italian like me it would be fantastic to follow the words of this song. Does anyone English mother tongue have the lyrics or help me to understand them or download them from somewhere? Looking forward to find them. Thanks a lot

Oct 11, 2008 - The snow was very plentifulAnd crumbs were very fewWhen a weather beaten sparrow throughA mansion window flewHer eye fell on a golden cageA sweet love song she heardSung by a pet canary thereA handsome yellow bird

StarOpal Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - He said to her, "Miss SparrowI've been struck by Cupid's arrowWill you share my cage with me?"She looked up at his castleWith its ribbon and its tasselAnd in plaintive tone said she"Goodbye, Little Yellow BirdI'd rather brave the coldOn a leafless tree Than a prisoner be In a cage of gold"

StarOpal Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - The spoiled and petted yellow birdCould scarcely believe it trueThat a common sparrow should refuseA bird with blood so blueHe told her the advantagesOf riches and of goldShe answered that her libertyFor gold could not be sold

Oct 11, 2008 - Fantastic...Fantastic...Fantastic...I've always loved this song and it is evocative of this time in musical history...Bring back vaudville and variety

OldieMusicMan Says:

Oct 11, 2008 - Did Angela Lansbury do her own singing in this clip? I know she could sing and has a respectable Broadway background (Mame, Sweeney Todd, etc); however, her singing was apparently not considered good enough for her to provide her own vocals to "The Harvey Girls". So is this her actual singing? I've never heard such a young Angela Lansbury singing, therefore I cannot form an opinion.
