And during WW2 A&M provided more officers for the army than any of the service academies, and we currently have more flag officers in the military than any other school. My point is that there are a lot of aggies in the military right now, and it's definitely not pretend.

We call you that because we were the first public university in the state (and second overall university--freakin' baylor beat us all to that punch). That's why we playfully consider ourselves to be Texas' university. Look at our name: We're the Texas Aggies (not the texas a&m aggies), like y'all are the texas 'horns. Just two great schools with a fierce rivalry--but most Aggies are way more steeped in the history of it!
