Obscure and creepy television series hosted by Roald Dahl. Similar to 'The Twilight Zone', this short lived series ran from 3/31/61 to 7/14/61 then was canceled after only 14 episodes. The makeup for this series was done by Dick Smith, who later went on to do the makeup for Linda Blair in the 1973 horror classic "The Exorcist".This rare series has never aired since 1961 and never released on video. Of the 14 episodes, 5 of them (including this one) have been floating around on the net, but the only way to see the other 9 elusive episodes is to pay a visit to The Museum of Television & Radio in NY.Episode titles and airdates:"William and Mary" (3/31/61)"The Down Car" (4/7/61)"The Sisters" (4/14/61)"Button, Button" (4/28/61)"I Heard You Calling Me" (5/5/61)"The Croaker" (5/12/61)"False Face" (5/26/61)"Dissolve to Black" (6/2/61)"Death Wish" (6/9/61)"Overnight Case" (6/16/61)"Hush, Hush" (6/23/61)"Side Show" (6/30/61)"Soft Focus" (7/7/61)"20/20" (7/14/61)In this episode, ("Dissolve To Black") An actress stays after hours in a studio to rehearse her role as a witness to a murder. But when everyone else leaves for the day and the lights go off, she finds herself locked in with actors that have been replaced by "the night crew"...ghouls with real knives and real blood... while a voice from the empty director's booth continues to give her acting directions.
