FelicityKing Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I wasn't dismissing the book when I made my comments. JA is my favorite author. However, imho, her later books do have more technical skill to them compared to NA.

Jul 26, 2008 - I see what you mean!my favourite ones are P&P and S&S I find that they meet the perfect balance of skill and action... although I also love all of them!

FelicityKing Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I love them all too! P&P and Persuasion are my favorites though.

FelicityKing Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - This version does include the deleted scenes.

Jul 26, 2008 - I just realized that Northanger Abbey and Disney's "Haunted House/Mansion," with Eddie Murphy, both have the same opening theme.-JW`chan ^-^

Jul 26, 2008 - J.J Field is such a cutie in this.

RabiaB Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Definitely yes, and it's not very surprising that Miss Austen got (even) better with time. This one might be a bit simpler in the plot and more obvious in the irony than later works, but it's already a wonderful parody of all the gothic novels at her time.

RabiaB Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Ohh, Mr Allen is so sweet: a bit teasing, but very kind. "She looks just like always" - that's probably the worst thing you can say to a young girl who has just spend one hour being prettied up! And Catherine Morland looks just sweet.

wanderingchild17 Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Is it just me, or does the ruffian at 4:41 look a lot like Richard Armitage?

Thetwofridas Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Huh . . . I always thought that he was saying "She looks just as she should," which isn't the warmest flattery, but a little nicer than saying that "She looks just like always"!

RabiaB Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - I listened again, and you are right. Still, I think Mr Allen is very sweet. And I love Catherine's imagined adventures - Mr Allen knocking out a ruffian with his crutch and Mrs Allen screaming in perfect pitch and then folding up neatly. Glorious.

Thetwofridas Says:

Jul 26, 2008 - Agreed! :)
