This is the end of the twenty minute speech originally from One Good Move: http://onegoodmove.org/1gm/1gmarchive/2007/03/free_speech_6.htmlHitchens is right that religion should be treated with ridicule, hatred, and contempt.

Jul 7, 2008 - What exactlty do you think his conclusions on those topics are, Sir? Or do you wish to make a claim in which you wont or can't resovle to explain?

ProudToBLoud Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - oh what nit picking,I said devoting his life, did I say devoted ? there is a difference, it does seem to be his obsession right now so nothing wrong in what i said, so obviously you know little of what you speak.

illuminated1WUN1 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - before commenting further please listen to a Manly P Hall lecture. such profoundness is incomparable when placed with Christopher Hitchens. there is a ESOTERIC side to nearly everything in existence, please do not ignore just because it reveals itself with "paranormal" nature

RomZomCom Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - When anyone opens their mouth about religion, they're wrong, atheist or not.Idiots...

andreqls Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - and when someone opens their mouth about other people opening their mouths... oops, I mean yeah ^^

RomZomCom Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Drats! The hypocrisy lasers have struck me again!

kmish213 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - whats that supposed to mean?if religious people say god is real and religion is right they are idiots?and same for atheists saying its wrong?

bonangusacdc Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Spot on Mr Hitchens. Religion is pure evil and child abuse. I hate it when the religious say the KNOW God is real. They know nothing. They only BELIEVE his is real which is becoming more unlikely with every fossil discovery and scientific breakthrough. Religion is superstitious nonsense that belongs back in the dark ages. Miracles don't happen anymore because we know how and why things work. The Church are doing their best to hang on to control. Increasingly desperate and pointless.

RomZomCom Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - It's horrifically pointless to argue childishly over something that may or may not exist, when there's other things that need to be paid attention to. Personally, I'd rather fight over legislature than calling Christians Nazis or Atheists closed minded.

RomZomCom Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Got any proof you know he doesn't exist? And I suppose you're going to tar and feather every Christian that has contributed to science, and give them a hand wave and say they're wrong.

bonangusacdc Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - That argument is futile and you know it. Nobody can prove a negative but that does not mean God wins by default. On a weighing scale there is mass amounts of evidence about the nature of the cosmos, life on earth and evolution that does not need a God. On the other side there is absolutely no proof for God, it is purely faith in what cannot be disproved. What is funny is that there is more proof for the Flying Spaghetti Monster than Jesus.

RomZomCom Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Please. FSM is a satiric creation by atheists to mock Christians, per usual. And I somehow don't think a swim bladder can mutate into a perfectly working lung without thousands dying in the process. And to be sure, I trust evolution more than creationism, but I suppose having the universe appear from a ball of matter that existed always makes sense, too.

bonangusacdc Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - And yet there is more evidence for the FSM than Jesus. And the FSM only serves to let Christians mock themselves. Read the hate mail and you will see that they destroy their own arguments. It merely points out just how ridiculous belief in something without any evidence actually is. And you are right about the lung. Millions die but a few prevail such is the nature of natural selection. Why do you think fish spawn thousands of eggs? Its just so a few will survive.

RomZomCom Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I agree that religious fervor of any sort is extremely stupid. Around here, I'm thankful no one bothers to convert anyone, but of course, the internet being a medium for anyone, hypocrisy prevails.

kmish213 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - ya me too, butpeople always say that religion is what keeps us morally stable, but then again, okay were morally stable, we can do the rest on our own, we can teach children how to do right, and not to do wrong with out preaching this fantasy like fiction.

RomZomCom Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - We could be the most morally-depraved people and follow a religion, or be some of the nicest people on Earth and be atheist. Yes, we don't need to teach our children Christianity, but it is up to the parent.

kmish213 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - but thats wrong, and ironically immoral to do soChildren arent mentally developed to understand, if you tell them, as they grow up, eating too much candy in one day can kill you, they will believe it.eaching kids they will go to a burning hell if they dont follow rules, is just, as george carlin says, a more sophisticated form of child abuse.

RomZomCom Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I guess spanking your kids must be abuse, then, to steer them away from doing "bad things"?It all depends on the parent, in my opinion. A Christian friend of mines won't be as strict as others (who threaten them with Hell, and usually actually abuse their kids), to be sure, and it is their religion. We're not going to magically turn all Atheist.

RomZomCom Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Oh, and I didn't mean "teach our children that they will go to Hell for whatever". I meant that it is up to the parent to teach their children morals, atheist or not.

kmish213 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - when did i say that?

theemurf Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - 72 thumbs up!!! Honestly, how intelligent is that chap sometimes? LOTS, thats wat!

chmsprg33 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Intelligent as a piece of slate

wauzers Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Umm, thats not what he said.

splugrosh Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Well said. I have lots of religious family and friends; I don't dislike them as people (quite the opposite), but time for their beliefs to be 'respected' has ended.I've thought that religion (religion is to philosophy what alchemy is to chemistry) is infantile, subservient nonsense for many years, but Hitchens is able to describe my contempt much better than I can. Bravo!

requiemdexter Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - He's awesome!!
