(July 8)[Notes:ANCHOR VOICE] [Notes:various NOAA images]Hurricane Bertha is still way out in the central Atlantic. But the season's first hurricane has reached category 3 status. The storm's maximum sustained winds are blowing near 120 miles an hour. Forecasters say it is not posing any threat to land now ... But they do expect it to head toward Bermuda. The National Hurricane Center says Bertha should stay at the category three intensity for a day or two. The center has projected 12 to 16 named storms in the Atlantic this season, with six to nine of them getting strong enough to achieve hurricane status.Hurricane season runs through the end of November. ___ ___, The Associated Press
