bunnett1259 Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - Ill take two please....one for my scooter and one for my pack pack....fukn A

zkool5 Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - Why would cops need anti-tank guns?

dp0Garfield Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - 30mm rounds cannot penetrate the Abrams Armor, idk whats in that armor but its some advanced shit, 30mm rounds barely scratch the surface of it

sadekgheidan Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - Believe me,If a 30MM is flying at Mach 3, It penetrates the FUCK out of a tank, don't care which one.If a Barett M82 (Anti Tank Sniper) can take out a tank with only 1 .50 bullet, don't you think this minigun can take the same tank out using 500 bullets which are a little smaller?

dp0Garfield Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - who told you that bullshit, a bullet flying that fast wouldnt be stable enough to be accurate, and one 50 caliber bullet taking down a tank? yea maybe a tank from WW1 or 2

Tbone4500 Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - thats the sound of freedom right there

ItzTzan Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - Bullets are very stable at high speeds because they are aero dynamic, other words they go really straight. And a 30mm bullet, I can see that going through a tank.

imcamping123 Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - They call the bullet "armor-piercing" for a reason, and the A-10 KILLS tanks with the 30mm bullet. Sadekgheidan is right..

3015055 Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - tard

USMarine010 Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - Thats why if i was a pilot and had a choice i would fly the A-10, also it has one of the safest cocpits around. i heard that you can smell the burning powder inside the cocpit when you fire the guns

isyourmojofly Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - "a bullet flying that fast wouldnt be stable enough to be accurate" - yes, but maybe several hundred in one second would be?

AcidHeartburn Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - Uhh, the bullets the GAU-8 fires are 30 mm. A .50 cal round from the M82 is 12.7 mm.~AcidHeartburn

sadekgheidan Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - What's your point? This only means that the 30MM has a lower velocity than the .50 cal round (12.7 X 99mm NATO).Let me simplify it for everyone that does not understand. You either have 1 .50 bullet from a M82 Traveling at Near Hypersonic speeds, hitting a tank, penetrating it because of its enormous kinetic energy.Or you have 50+ much larger bullets traveling at Transonic Speeds hitting a tank, weakening it and tearing it apart well within the first 10 shots.

sadekgheidan Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - With ease. A 30MM traveling at mach 1.2+ (800Mph+) hitting a tank will either penetrate the hell out of it, or it will really weaken the armor, making way for the following 50 bullets that will impact the same area within the second.I have a question though,How does the M61 Vulcan (20MM if I'm not mistaking) compete with the GAU8 Avenger?

ItzTzan Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - I think a m61 vulcan is more for anti personal and light armor vechicles

beserk23456 Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - 20mm is still a hell of a round. Its used for missile defense on ships and can still shoot down aircraft with ease.

beserk23456 Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - A 30mm round from this gun will be traveling at about 4000ft/s, which is hypersonic. Therefore each round has the advantage of enormous mass and incredible velocity.

StryderK Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - No comparison! The N61's 20mm are designed to penetrate aircrafts, which are much less heavily armored! The initial muzzle velocity is much lower and to boot, there isn't anything like DU Equipped API ammunition. A 30mm DU equipped API can deliver 200tons of force to a penny sized area! 20mm can't come even close to that!

em745aa Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - -"Or you have 50+ much larger bullets traveling at Transonic Speeds hitting a tank, weakening it and tearing it apart well within the first 10 shots."LOL! -OR!- you have a 30mm depleted uranium slug travelling at 3,500 feet/second (~2,400mph)... And the GAU-8 can fire 65 of these slugs EVERY SECOND. Do the math. The GAU-8 is the most powerful gun ever mounted on an aircraft... ANY aircraft.

sadekgheidan Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - my point is that you you can achieve the same results with the Vulcan as as you could achieve with the GAU-8 in the same time.Btw- you can use DU in every type of bullet ever made INCLUDING the Vulcan But I hate DU since fucking kills people where and when it should not years after its original usage.

em745aa Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - -"my point is that you you can achieve the same results with the Vulcan as as you could achieve with the GAU-8 in the same time."If that were the case, then why did [they] go through the MAJOR effort of shoehorning the _HUGE_ GAU=8 into a small airframe when a comparatively tiny M61A1 would've sufficed?Ever hear of MUZZLE ENERGY?

em745aa Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - -"But I hate DU since fucking kills people where and when it should not years after its original usage."FYI, DU is only mildly radioactive, and only within a couple inches. It consists mostly of alpha particles, which can be blocked with a sheet of paper, and a bit of low energy gamma radiation. So we're not exactly talking about Chernobyl here.DU is used not only for armor-penetrating slugs, but also for armor plate and as counterweights in aviation.

sadekgheidan Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - Believe what you want. US Soldiers that handled DU in '91 didn't get ill for no reason. DU is less harmless than normal U but It can and is still very damaging.

wrathmaster Says:

Sep 6, 2008 - wonder how much that costs to fire like that
